No they didn’t! Ferguson timing was bad and his style caught up with him. But pre-Gaethje, he was on a legendary non title run, maybe the best non UFC title run ever … Definitely up there with Reem’s non UFC title run and Nick Diaz’s.

I never said his run wasn’t good, it was, but let’s not pretend like he wasn’t already showing signs of being on the downswing. The guy fought Justin when he was 36 or 37, and that’s before you take into account his fighting style. Plenty of people called it out that it was a matter of time before he got knocked out, I was one of them.

It is a good win for Justin, but it’s an extremely overrated win. If you look at who Justin has beat, and when, it’s really not impressive. Conor and him are about even at 155 in my opinion, and at least Conor has wins over guys Justin has lost to.

Conor hasn't beaten anyone but Cowboy in 7 (Seven) years.

In that time Gaethje has destroyed Cowboy, Vick, Barboza, Chandler, and derailed Tony Ferguson and Fiziev's prime winning streaks.

Justin would literally kill Conor after Conor gassed in 30 seconds which is why Conor has ducked every single callout.

As far as who connor should fight going forward lets all be honest connor needs to stick to Sus Give-me wins over former greats on their way out so they can have a last payday and he can 'try' to salvage some of his name to a casual fan base that has mostly moved on.... a fight with Justin will likely leave connor face planted. Now that said Connor does have some credibility in his stance that a win over chandler should lead to a title shot is 'close to' what Justin got... However as others have pointed out when you see who connor has beaten in the last 7 years his argument losses much of it's merit. If connor pulls off another lucky hit and run win should he be Gifted a title shot? I'm sure Dana thinks so.... I'm biased and say no... fuck connor no title shot until he beats 2 top 10's and then at least 2 top 5's... is that fair to connor? maybe not but I think it is closer to "fair" for the rest of the division than just 'win's' over Cowboy and maybe Chandler.

the fight was supposed to be against rda for the title. Rda pulled out the week of the fight. Aldo and others didn’t accept the fight so he fought Diaz at ww.

Very few would do that with so much on the line going from 145 lb champ fighting for the 155 lb title to ww.

I think it’s 50/50. Justin has a hell of a chin as we all know and brutal leg kicks. Poirer showed us how much Conor can’t defend those. I’m sure Justin would want to brawl like he did Chandler but couldn’t use wrestling against Chandler, where as with Conor he could. I’d take Justin but would love to see it. Conor Chandler even as well I’d probably take Conor. I’d rather watch any above than Leon vs Belal. Championship or not.
