Charles "had 3 shots?" Usually, that phrase is used to refer to failures. He won the vacant title after Khabib and deserved to be there as the top contender, had a short dominant run, then lost it on the scale, but was basically the champ in waiting vs Islam (since there was no way he wouldn't be contending for the belt), again a vacant fight. All of that would be only considered 1 "shot" and/or a successful one. Then he was put against Ilia for the vacant after 1 bounce back win against Chandler.

Poirier was the interim champ for his first shot and number 1 contender for his second. It was the 3rd that he also was only on 1 bounce back win.

Both of those "single bounce back" title shots each came with a context that Justin does not have, being when there was a vacant title or when there were no other top contenders with wins (or short notice like it was for Volk). Justin is rightfully behind other people

Depends the way you look at it. Justin certainly deserved his first title shot at Khabib, the second one he got off a single win. But this one, he won two fights in a row over Fiziev and Poirier, and then lost to Max in a BMF title fight, which was to put on 300 to stack the card, he was the rightful top contender at that point and was told he'd get a shot with those two wins. He lost to Max but then got a W back vs Fiziev 2 this year. So I think this shot is pretty fair to give to him now.

When you have fighers get 3 title shots, you're always gonna get scenarios where a guy gets a shot off one win or fills in. It's just the sport. You're not gonna get a fighter that just earns it every time.

Chalres is a bit different, yes, as one of those shots he got as the rightful champ who missed weight and he won the first one.
