I like the thinking behind this. "Well, if they are going to illegally cross the border, illegally reside in the country, and drive without a license anyway, we should probably afford them the right to obtain a legal license so they can continue to work and stay in the country illegally".

I do have a few questions-will the driver's pass allow the undocumented foreign dignitaries to list a us address? Does ca expect the rest of the country to recognize the driving passes? And finally, when brown says that "when a million undocumented people drive legally with respect to California" does he say it with a straight face-because it is all about respect-to a country's border and driving laws that were being broken anyway?

The powers that be are eager to take away the rights of law abiding citizens and give them to criminals. Quite honestly I'm convinced that our soft stance on illegal immigration is enabling Mexico's dysfunction. It lets them blow off steam by sending people here to look for work while their socialist establishment wastes everybody's time and resources in their own country.

I can simplify. It's not that complicated. California Democrats (who have already gerrymandered the state to strengthen their already lopsided stranglehold on it) are keen to pander to Latinos to ensure that vote stays shored up, and guarantees for the future that they have virtually unilateral power as a party in the state. They don't give a shit that this sort of governing is rationally indefensible- almost categorically so.

But this is a reminder why I have difficulty sympathizing with our current right-wing, especially the hard right such as the Tea Party and the current incarnation of Libertarianism. Look at this thread. How many of our resident leftist posters are defending this? Even our more extreme leftists? It's a black and white issue. Yet wander over to the Cliven Bundy thread and nearly every significant neocon on this site was trying to defend that fucking welfare ranching piece of shit. So that's the world I live in. I was raised conservative. I find the Republican party as it exists today barely recognizable compared to the values I was raised to hold. The classical conservatism of Goldwater and Buckley is effectively dead.

Well considering they are making low wages and living in america, I'm sure their sending tons of money to Mexico.. Yes its true they send little money but if you saw the conditions their families live in then I'm sure you would do the same.

As anyone been to traffic court with a room full of unlicensed drivers? They get a slap on the wrist from the judge and walk out. Its fucking stupid.

Like I asked before, would it be illegal for me to prevent an unlicensed uninsured driver from leaving the scene of a wreck? Lets say I called the cops and stood in front of the persons car door until the cops came. Is that illegal?

If you physically restrained them in any way, it would probably be illegal unless they attacked you first. Since you're not in an enclosed space, standing in front of their car so they couldn't get in is probably fine because they have other ways of leaving the scene. If you were in an enclosed space and holding them against their will, that's illegal.

Actually our GOP legislators are just as bad. But since the Dems hold the majority, they are the ones responsible for most of the bullshit.

Our governors are not nearly so terrible because they tend to be more centrist, elected by the state as a whole. I've had little problem with any of our governors, whether GOP or Dem.

Our state legislators, on the other hand, pretty much all belong in prison. Senator Yee is going there for sure, but the rest should be thrown in after him. What a bunch of corrupt crooks and fanatics.

well then why don't you open your home to one of them. Let them come in and stay for free, eat for free, pay for their kids education, pay for their medical bills, etc.
