Initially I thought Tom should just defend the Interim belt and make money given his age and earning ability.
But realistically, he should vacate and go back to fighting all comers as a protest and lay this issue back into the lap of the UFC.

Whining doesn't seem to work, so if he instead gives the belt back because it is effectively meaningless, it may help to pressure Jones. Him clinging to that belt give it, it's supposed legitimacy.

He is building up a YouTube Channel with around 400k subs, which will set him up for income after fighting
(Mighty Mouse has a million subs and may be making more for talking about MMA than he did for fighting)

He is the center of attention in the MMA world.
If he isn't retarded, which he doesn't seem to be, that can pretty easily be monetized by way of sponsorships, podcast appearances, etc.

And he will make millions for his next fight, Jon or not, as he will be fighting as a champ, and he is possibly the most talked about guy, especially with Alex losing his title.
