Media Aspinall "I don't want to win as many championships as Jon." "I want to make as much money as I can in the shortest amount of time and then bounce"

I rate Tom highly but if thats his attitude I hope he gets his ass beat and used as a stepping stone for someone else who WILL stick around.

Tired of all the divas in this sport nowadays.
Who needs fans like you anyway?

Amanda Nunes said this way early on, and she left when she had to leave. Nobody cried like you then. They knew it was time and no one called her a diva.

But your already ready to spazz out and tear out your hair over Tom just having a reasonable take on how ot handle his career lol

OH NOES U WONT BE AROUND FOR 20 YEARS. YOU SHOULD FUCKING DIE.

If hes the kind of dude who doesn't think he can create a legacy of athletic greatness, put asses in seats and carve out his own lane with whatever shit circumstances may he afforded to him (that being the visibility of UFC HW) then... He can't. It takes a certain level of delusion to dare to be a once in a life time original kicker.

Anyone know who Jaco Pastorious is? He used to introduce himself at age 16 as "im the greatest bass player ever." That was the kind of out of touch confidence it took to become freakin' Jaco.
Yeah. Kinda seems like he switched up his mantra. Like an earlier poster said, I’m sure he was saying that he wanted to be the best ever in a previous interview…why the switch? Maybe UFC bout making shenanigans? Haha.

I hope that Tom gets to fight Jon. Think it’s the biggest fight to make. Who doesn’t wanna see it?!

Maybe Tom needs to step up the delusion like Topuria has…although is it really delusion if you are doing what you say you’re gonna do?

And yeah Jaco is dope, I love his playing on the Weather Report stuff!

At his age i don't think breaking the overall title defense record is reachable, but he could take the HW record still.

I get his point, and it's a smart one given the dangers involved, but I hope he doesn't leave TOO early.

Legacy is overrated, it's all about making money in this modern era of MMA
Michael Chandler a few years before covid summed it up pretty well. UFC at the time had lowballed him so he resigned to Bellator for like 3x higher base pay and full control of sponsorship.

A reporter asked him "aren't you worried about your long term legacy by staying in Bellator" and he said "scrapping at the bottom isn't worth my kids friends being like oh I remember your dad, reality is i'd rather be chillin on a lake house"

The guy who hasn't managed to get out yet, despite being shot for years
Kind of proves his point though

If you fail to get out you eventually become a parody of your former self

Even Tyson by the end saw the inevitable slide into being a washed up bum and got out before he tarnished his record too much

With McGregor he effectively got out of the fight game and made his money, but it seems like in his head it's still 2016 and he's still that guy, that's the problem. At some point you need to accept that it's over, Tom at least seems to understand that has to happen some time in his 30s
