then bet your life savings on Jones next fight if you think he's invincible. if not, then shut up. you're not convincing anyone here. the sides are chosen already.
Guys, I get it.
Aspinall is young, bigger, stronger, faster. I get it. But I have never seen in my 37 years of life with 15 of them being in Thailand seeing fighters come and go day after day after day someone like Jon Jones.
Jon Jones fight IQ is something different. I always thought hes gonna have an easy night against Ngannou (Francis have absolutely nothing for Jones beside power). I think Aspinall speed might give him some problem but I gotta go with Jones.
The reality is many people have a hard time to separate the guy as a human being from the athlete. Jones is a terrible human being we can all agree. But can we also agree that he would be the first one we run to to teach our childrens MMA?
The guy is a monster. I dont care about the outside noise -- Jones is that guy. And if you think Aspinall will just go out there and knock him out then be it. Yall never learn.
Responding to your edit: LOL ok let's talk about the Machida fight...which I saw live in person... 13 years ago. Jones from 2011-2014 was probably the best fighter of all time but that was over a decade ago. Jones has only has 2 fights since the Reyes fight... that is a hell of a lot more relevant than fights from when Jones was 24 FFS. If you can't understand that, attach your post to your application for MAID and you will get fast tracked for approval. YikesJust say you dont like Jones. No need to write a paragraph.
Terrible bias toward Aspinall in your whole text. Thats ok. You see I absolutely dont take guys like you opinion seriously because yall so emotionally invested. Yall dont even know what yall talk about and yall twist words to fit your narratiive.
Youre picking out 2 fights out of his 20+ professional careers fights to try to make him look bad. Lets talk about the Shogun fight, Lets talk about the Machida fight, Lets talk about the Cormier fight, etc..
Yall guys never talk about that because yall werent around and have no clue.
Dude if they do fight, I want to bet some money with you. Put your money and Aspinall and lets see what happen.
He’s been the undisputed GOAT for like forever now. Jon was GOAT at an age that Aspinall wasn’t even a UFC fighter yet.If Jones beats Aspinall, I'll accept that and proclaim Jones as the undisputed GOAT.
I just don't see this ending well for Jon.
Let's see if this fight happens.
Lets debate that.Aspinall's record speaks for itself.
All 1st round finished, with the exception of 1 that was finished in the 2nd round.
One loss due to an injury in the first 15 seconds.
On paper he's a nightmare for Jones.
Debatable because many haven't forgotten what happened vs Reyes, Santos and Gus. + his ducking of Aspinall is leaving a sour taste in many peoples mouth. He’s been the undisputed GOAT for like forever now. Jon was GOAT at an age that Aspinall wasn’t even a UFC fighter yet.
Jon would love to throw elbows from guard and let Tom try and use BJJ lmfao. If that’s Tom’s plan, he’s wrecked. He better hope Jon decides to just box and forget he has knees, elbows, kicks, clinches, and range. Maybe they can put a tire in the ring and make them keep one foot in itMy fellow sherbros have made excellent points in the comments so far. Jones has all time great fight IQ. Tom is bigger, younger, faster, stronger. Jones looked slow. Jones fights at the pace he needs to. Jones is bigger, stronger and smarter than ever. Jones rarely performs at his peak but will get serious for a challenge like Aspinall. Jones won't want to take Tom down because he has excellent BJJ. Jones' experience will hold him in good stead while Tom might be overawed. We've never seen Aspinall taken to deep waters. Aspinall doesn't go to deep waters because he has ungodly speed and power.
All of these talking points make for the most compelling fight that the UFC can make in years. I'm all in. Don't care who wins. I just want to see two generational talents compete in the Octagon to decide who is the supreme combat sports athlete in 2025.
Dude you talk as if his fight with Reyes is more relevant when its not even the same weight class?Responding to your edit: LOL ok let's talk about the Machida fight...which I saw live in person... 13 years ago. He’s undisputed everywhere except for a few sherbros in their mom’s basement that are still whinging about nothing. His title defenses and resume is like 2-3 other GOATs combined at this point, and he’s crushing the “bigger stronger guys he cant handle” like they are middle weights lmfaoDebatable because many haven't forgotten what happened vs Reyes, Santos and Gus. + his ducking of Aspinall is leaving a sour taste in many people's mouth.
He's a nightmare for Jones because he will be coming at Jones nonstop with lightning fast hands and legit one punch KO power.Lets debate that.
Hes a nightmare where? Who has he fought that fight like Jones?
Dude im glad you answer because I want that debate.
You know someone is capable of having an intelligent conversation when they say "Just look at what he did in his entire career!" Might as well say "Fedor would beat Jones. He beat Cro Cop standing man. Trust me bro. He was the shit in 2005".Dude you dont need a hype machine when it comes to Jones. Matter of fact he doesnt need any marketing at all.
Just look at what hes been doing for 14 years. His performance speak for itself just like Beterbiev performance speak for itself in boxing.
Jones dont need the marketing trust me. If youre a day one you know exactly how he fight.
The honest truth is they dont. Even so-called MMA fight fans dont watch fights like that.Sometimes I feel like people commenting never watched Jones fight.
Sometimes I feel like people commenting never watched Jones fight.
Im literally in Thailand and Dan hooker is actually not far from me.You know someone is capable of having an intelligent conversation when they say "Just look at what he did in his entire career!" Might as well say "Fedor would beat Jones. He beat Cro Cop standing man. Trust me bro. He was the shit in 2005".
Sorry but we're talking about the here and now. Jones was amazing fighter... I have never once said that he wasn't and your repeated attempts to act like we're "haters" makes me believe you are very delusional/lead a very sad life.
However, all fighters age and no one stays on top forever. If any HW does end up beating Jones, it doesn't automatically mean they are better than him or overshadow his career so you can stop getting your panties in a bunch. Jones is 37 years old and has had several bad performances in his last few fights... ANYONE can lose. Now, welcome to my ignore list
Aspinal record is good but Jones’s has beaten legends in the UFC. Jones reign at the top was always against the very best and he was defending his belt. This is what makes it more impressive especially at Light Heavyweight.Aspinall's record speaks for itself.
All 1st round finished, with the exception of 1 that was finished in the 2nd round.
One loss due to an injury in the first 15 seconds.
On paper he's a nightmare for Jones.
Lets be honest though -- Heavyweight are just slow in general. You dont have guys like Mitrione, Aspinall, Gane often.Apart from Aspinall and Gane, who else is "quick" and "moving well" at HW right now? Volkov is active and tries to land often, but is not exactly quick, Pavlovich is explosive, but again he is more static when not exploding. Everyone else is slow, plodding, fatso or a combination of those 3. Sure Jones is slower than Aspinall (duh), but he was even slower than Gane and what happened? Nothing, Gane was discarded in two minutes.
It's funny how people pretend that it's 2010 or something. Back then there were a lot of fast and active HWs (pre-USADA bless). It's not 2010, guys.
Or maybe a lot of people live in the past. Sure I remember when Jon Jones made his debut in the UFC and he was a real wrecking machine. But after his 2-year suspension he is fighting in this exact same manner. He looked his best in the DC fights, but apart from them his fights look exactly like this. Honestly him utilizing his wrestling like he did in his golden days and also trying a lot of spinning kicks with all that weight on makes me thing he may be there for the long(er) run and may take the Aspinall fight.
Man we know Jones is going to be throwing vicious elbows and knees at every opportunity but I don't think he'd want to be in guard with 270lbs of lean mass reigning his own shots down on him. I think his options there are panic scramble or hold on for dear life.Jon would love to throw elbows from guard and let Tom try and use BJJ lmfao. If that’s Tom’s plan, he’s wrecked. He better hope Jon decides to just box and forget he has knees, elbows, kicks, clinches, and range. Maybe they can put a tire in the ring and make them keep one foot in it
