The are some strange projections here - the shit about 'questions' and 'inquiries' is your own personal hangup that has nothing to do with me. An odd thing to bring up.
No, I did not have a particular love for season 1, it's just that his mother was clearly a key part of the show, as Melfi was supposed to be, and thing that separated Sopranos from a standard mob show. When the actor died, the show clearly didn't really know where it was going.
But yes, I do think that a violent sociopath being a violent sociopath is not particularly interesting, and along with it the whole Melfi arc falls flat. Then what we have left is a generic mob war. I enjoyed it on some level, I could just recognize that there was nothing particularly brilliant about it.
Noticing that a lot of people are fascinated by crime/mob dramas, sometimes to an unhealthy, childish degree and that they tend to elevate crime/mob dramas far beyond their artistic merit, is not some statement of being 'above' people in general.
Anyway, the important thing we should all agree on is that Poatan will finally be exposed.
You being quick to invoke "teenagers," made me assume you were in your twenties, so I'm having some fun, making fun of that mindset.
And, if I were to try to score some points off of your name, which insulting words do you think I could use, Doctor? I already used "desperate," so I'd have to give it some thought.
Again, you point to an inflated love for mob movies, and, without having discussed any of the movies you're talking about, I can tell you that this generalization is stopping you from appreciating The Sopranos. There's not one bad episode. There are episodes that are considered dull in the later seasons that focus on Carmela, and they're still excellent one hour stories.
As for the "mob war" you keep talking about, tensions flare throughout, but there's only a NY-NJ at the very end of 6B. The show is mostly about Tony's life, and entire seasons will culminate in an episode about his marriage, fatherhood, or leadership. The "whacking" is secondary, if not last.
Regardless, anyone who claims to know that show and thinks it turned to shit after Nancy's death is simply wrong. I could probably find some critics with impressive titles to back me up, but I don't need them to make my point.
But, yes, let's go Poatan.
