Anyone actually rooting for Ankalaev?

I have to disagree. The Sopranos is the best show. Season One of the worst season by far. S2 was amazing, and it only gets better from there (after Nancy died).

Alex Pereira is gonna kick Ank's ass worse than Tony did to Dominick Tedesco in the Pizza World parking lot.

I'm shocked that somebody called 'Goodfella' has a hard on for mob dramas.

Things like the Godfather, Goodfellas, Sopranos get overrated because certain people have a fascination with the subject matter rather than objectively critiquing the quality of the material. Many people even think Scarface is a great movie, when it is fucking terrible.

I too used to be fascinated by mobsters and crime...but luckily I didn't stay a teenager forever.

Also, when I say overrated, I don't mean bad (Godfather is indeed a great film, it's just not the greatest film ever as so many claim. Goodfellas is very good, just not great). It also doesn't mean crime dramas can't be awesome - the Wire is a much better show than the Sopranos.

Unfortunately, I will never be able to convince mob-film fanboys of the errors of their ways. But luckily Ankalaev can objectively prove to Poatan's fluffers that he is heavily overrated.

I think he is a good guy it´s just that people love Alex so they hate Ankalev. I am for may the best man win. What did Ankalev ever do wrong ?
Not providing a single real moment of excitement in any of his fights; that's an unforgivable sin for any MMA fan, unless they make up for that flaw by adopting a loud and obnoxious right-wing persona.

You sure sound desperate to be above something. I used to be like that when I was in my twenties. Then, I grew up and stopped saying "inquiry" all the time when I meant "question." It takes time.

The Sopranos isn't for teenagers. The Wire isn't, either. I love that show, and it's the only show I've seen in the same ballpark.

The very fact that you appreciate the Nancy Marchandt episodes shows that you have NO appreciation for the show. That means Seasons 1 and 2 are where the show peaked for you. You probably think "College" is the best episode, where Tony says "Jimmy says 'Hello' from Hell, you fuck." Go rewatch the show. See how much they hit you over the head with themes like Moral relativism in s1, and how they use shitty musical scores to make it look like shit. And then, go watch any later season and tell me it's not leagues better.

It gets a lot darker as the show goes on, and Tony becomes a much more realistic criminal. He's a violent scumbag. That can be a turn off for some who just want the less sociopathic Tony from season 1.

The are some strange projections here - the shit about 'questions' and 'inquiries' is your own personal hangup that has nothing to do with me. An odd thing to bring up.

No, I did not have a particular love for season 1, it's just that his mother was clearly a key part of the show, as Melfi was supposed to be, and thing that separated Sopranos from a standard mob show. When the actor died, the show clearly didn't really know where it was going.

But yes, I do think that a violent sociopath being a violent sociopath is not particularly interesting, and along with it the whole Melfi arc falls flat. Then what we have left is a generic mob war. I enjoyed it on some level, I could just recognize that there was nothing particularly brilliant about it.

Noticing that a lot of people are fascinated by crime/mob dramas, sometimes to an unhealthy, childish degree and that they tend to elevate crime/mob dramas far beyond their artistic merit, is not some statement of being 'above' people in general.

Anyway, the important thing we should all agree on is that Poatan will finally be exposed.
