All time low interest point - Anyone else?

32 years old here, I have been watching since high school as well, some divisions are more interesting than others, but we don't have a good card for a while, there's a good fight night card in August (Cory vs Umar as the main event) not sure when the next good PPV will be but yet they are rare these days

UFC seems to want to hold on to its old fighters as long as possible for name recognition to sell cards. There isn't many ranked fighters at the heavier weights 30 and under. No Jon Jones situations where you have a young guy that can be champ for years and years.

I agree... kind of. My interest in the UFC is at an all-time low, but my interest in the sport is higher than it's been since Fedor was fighting. Part of this is due to the efforts of fighters like Ngannou doing amazing things and part of it is because I absolutely love watching MMA while shitposting with all the other sherdoggers on PBP threads. If it wasn't for those threads, I wouldn't even watch the UFC if my fave fighter weren't on the card.

Not at all

Pereira has been incredible to watch.
O Malley has an exciting style. I want to see him fight Sandhagen.
Topuria is amazingly talented. His fight with Holloway is going to be legendary
Islam is a great champ.
MW is kind of fun but Izzy is getting a bullshit TS.

Leon sucks but he at least beat Colby.

HW is a clusterfuck tho. Fuck that division, fuck Dana, and fuck Jones.

Same, I love all you guys on playbyplay, it makes watching the fights much better and most of the UFC Apex cards I just wouldn't bother watching, its so flat with zero energy, its like a church graveyard.. I only stay because of the playbyplay crew.. so many laughs and good energy in there. The UFC PPVs I would still watch always, but most of the UFC Apex events I just want to skip and its just fights for fight sake without real human beings there, its totally flat and dull. Love to the playbyplay crew <3

Ufc has allowed dudes to squat at the top of divisions and recycle the same title contenders again and again in order to maximize profits. This however has starved out most of the divisions from cultivating new talent, leading to most divisions feeling completely stale and lifeless.

Shocking - focusing only on short term profits is bad for the long term. Next up - area man steps in water, gets wet.

It's fascinating how people can have such different opinions. I've been following MMA for 14 years, and I think we're in one of the most exciting eras of the sport.

Jon Jones is the heavyweight champ, Alex Pereira is on a legendary run, and Adesanya is gearing up to reclaim his belt. Leon Edwards is on a 12-fight winning streak, just a couple of wins away from entering the greatest welterweight discussion. Islam Makchachev, with his 14-fight winning streak, is one of the most dominant champions and is on his way to becoming one of the sport's greats.

Then there's Ilia Topuria, a young, brash fighter looking impressive in his UFC run, and Sean O’Malley, another new-generation fighter who's been backing up his talk. Alejandro Pantoja, the most underrated champion on the roster, is always active and ready to scrap.

In women's MMA, former two-time Olympic gold medalist Kayla Harrison is eyeing the 135 belt. Valentina Shevchenko, one of the greatest female fighters, is trying to recapture her belt, and at 115, Zhang Weili consistently delivers high-quality, entertaining fights.

I believe we're in another golden era of MMA that will continue into 2025 and 2026, with epic fights on the horizon.

I don’t really watch fights anymore. They’re on for background noise. I’m legit more interested in shitposting here. (Which has declined with the ufc. There’s so much less posting about the fights that just happened vs years ago)

inb4 "the UFC is dying".

I've never been a doom and gloom fan but you've got to admit it's pretty bad right now.

The new gloves are terrible and I honestly think they're playing a part. Punches seem to have much less impact. There are too many cards, too many average fighters (to put it nicely). And to top it off, we get a huge PPV in the UK and it's ruined by forcing people to fight at 3/4/5/6am. The crowd was dead by 3am.

There's no real point to this thread other than to vent my frustration. Thanks.

Dana literally said that even he and his team were questioning it at one point. They should start looking at it again.

How do you explain the sudden drop in power across the entire roster?
