International Zelensky Rejects Trump's Idiotic "Minerals Deal" - Might Tell The US to go F*ck Itself

The minerals deal is not a security guarantee - at all. That's like tissue paper thin.
It really sounds like you want to give them NATO benefits without being a NATO member and are bristling at the idea of them having to contribute something to their own defense, like an actual NATO member would. Its a really weird stance.

It does if its a US interest in the middle of their country. We're not putting boots on the ground. Its the best they'll get from us.
We'll negotiate the deal, protect our mutual interests and Europe can supplement whatever else they need.
What use is a minerals deal if the Russians can just come back next year?

What company is going to invest in mining infrastructure that the Russians will steal or destroy?

Zelensky showing up in his phony special forces uniform should tell you all you need to know about him.

Dude was not in the military.

Anything short of a promise to fight for them, isn't a security guarantee. As Russia has proven, they don't give a fuck about some toothless promise to defend Ukraine via money laundering.

Anything short of making them a NATO member and declaring that an attack on Ukraine is an attack on them all, is tissue paper thin.

If you had U.S. mining companies and employees in Ukraine harvesting these materials, it would put Russia in a bad spot. Say what you want about them but they don't want U.S. military intervention. If they attacked and the U.S. employees were in danger, they would have a big issue.

Ukraine can't join NATO. The best they can do is install foreign interests in their country.

You say that like United States businesses and citizens weren't already invested in Ukraine prior to the war.

Then there is zero point for Ukraine to give the US a favorable minerals deal. They don't benefit at all. Any deal has to be mutually beneficial.

The US could at least offer MORE guaranteed weapons, but they're not even offering that.

But it does nothing to secure them. Like I said, anything short of NATO membership is not a guarantee of any security whatsoever, so what's the point? It's practically a symbolic gesture.

Weapons helps secure them because they could fight off another invasion easier. If they run out of weapons, they're completely vulnerable to any Russian military action at any time.

It'd be a lot different if there was a peace treaty broken and a major revenue source for the U.S. (the minerals) and it's employees were put in harm's way.

You're talking about World War 3.

World War 3 would be America vs Russia, China, Iran, Afghanistan, North Korea etc.

America has no strong allies at this point. I'm not so sure America wins that tbh. They haven't won a war in 80 years.

Not unless they're getting a nuke or an iron dome. The only thing keeping this at a stalemate is the continuous support of weapons and money. That's not gonna go on forever. The US is not gonna promise them the very thing they're trying to get out of right now.

Ukraine simply isn't in a good spot. It is what it is.

They didn't have a nuke or Iron dome and managed to stave off a much larger Russian military for 3 years.

You've yet to give ANY reason Ukraine should sign this minerals deal.

Barely, and if you haven't noticed, the gravy train is coming to an end. The US is not negotiating a deal that puts them right back where they are.

Because they really have no choice. You really need to get it out of your head that Ukraine is negotiating from a position of strength and can make all these demands. They pretty much have to take what's given to them, or they can try and continue the war without unlimited funds and weapons from the US and see how that goes.

They do have a choice. They can simply say no. Because the US is offering literally nothing in return.

If they say yes, they get nothing. If they say no, they get nothing. Literally zero reason for Ukraine to give the US 500 billion in minerals.

But wouldn't that mean Ukraine ceding territory?

Where has anyone involved claimed they won't cede any territory?

Zelensky has offered to cede territory, cede mineral rights, and resign as part of a peace deal, but not without some concrete international security guarantee.

How is that different to the billions of pre-war investment and US employees already working there.

Ukraine was turning into a bit a tech hotspot for US companies to outsource for things like game development pre-war. Similar to the other Baltic states.
