Why do Liberals get so offended by "Wuhan virus"?

What some people dont realize why Trump, Pence and Pompeo is calling it China Virus is because political retaliation for all the lies the CCP has been pedling in Social Media using their Wumao trolls.

Chinese propaganda is spreading shit i.e US Army created the virus, set if off in Wuhan, Virus came from italy etc.

Trump and other actors are just trying to fend off all the CCP bullshit.

There is really a deliberate attempt by China to politically capitalize on this tragedy only a fucking Shill of CCP will think otherwise.
That's what has bugged me about our liberal media, that they deliberately ignored the fact that Trump only called it the "China virus" because China was claiming it was a US bio attack against China.

Say China and America were individuals, this is like China punching America and America hitting back, but our media only focuses on America hitting back and rails against America for doing so.

You quoted a post of mine in which I was explaining the perspective that has been given from some Asian Americans regarding the Asian American experience right now. I gave that perspective because it was specifically requested. I also gave my own perspective multiple times, which was different from that perspective.

You responded with something about CCP? You guys pull this stuff out of thin air.

With h is posts in the thread he's being semi-liberal.

What does this mean? These threads are strange to me. People seem to respond with posts that hardly even relate to what was said. The responses in this thread have been all over the place.

I haven't personally encountered anybody who cares one way or the other. But generally speaking, Covid19 is a much more specific description of the virus, so why not use the official name? Seems sort of obvious. But I don't care if people call it the Wuhan Virus, or whatever they've been using.

But recently a lot of people have been blurring the lines between attacking attacking the Chinese government, and attacking whatever perception they have of Chinese culture and attacking all ethnic Chinese people. It's been sort of sad to see. It's not surprising that Chinese people are fed up with it, and they have every right to stand up for themselves.

You mean their tendency to eat freshly killed rodents and pets.. like rats, bats, cats and dogs... And their affinity for whack job medications requiring shark fins and ivory?

I'm surprised the rest of the world isn't as fed up with them as they are with us... I mean they've only had 3 major viral outbreaks come out of China since 2000 due to their wet markets.

Because it rightly takes the blame of food of Trump and lands it squarely on the shoulders of the Country responsible for this madness.
The left is not concerned with anything at this point but to blame our president for everything.

Your message is pretty simple.

You understand why people would refer it to as wuhan or chinese virus, yet also realize that idiots will use this as pretext to justify/reinforce their racist beliefs, and ...people are conflating anger with the Chinese government (CCP) with anger with chinese folk as a whole.

Yeah, like China having 1.4 billion people. Lmao

Impressive Knowledge. I was commenting your stupid chart/graph, which compares number of infections of countries that have nothing in common. But you have shown to be a complete idiot, please continue.

People are crazy, chloroquine became a right wind remedy, yet studies just come out showing how the virus infects and that indeed chloroquine is a valid treament along with Avigan, but nobody will read that.

I could care less about feelings when China just fucked the world like never seen before. It will take at least 5 years to recover from this financially let alone the deaths.

Which all could be avoided if China did not trade wild animals known to be virus carriers and cover up to the point of Europe receiving thousands of infected people from China.

From what I've heard them say, they see it as an extension of growing animosity towards Chinese people, in general. They are noticing an uptick in racism against Asians, and hearing people calling this the "Chinese Virus" or "Wuhan Virus" likely seems like an extension of that racism to them.

I think people are saying some really messed up things about Asians, and disguising it with, "I'm talking about culture, not people." Many people living here are still connected to that culture, and they have family in those countries. In the last few days I've repeatedly heard Chinese people referred to as unfeeling robots, and I was told that is not an offensive thing to say because it's about culture. No, that's about people. I know a few recent immigrants from China, they are not unfeeling robots and I'm sure they'd be pretty upset if you said that to their face about their friends and family.

In another thread right now, a guy is saying the ethnic Chinese are meek, deceitful, underhanded, and accurately represented by old stereotypical cartoons.

Asian people are hearing all of this, and it's ridiculous for us to not expect them to be fed up with it all at this point.

Has all the talk of "Russian disinformation" and "Russian aggression" fueled anti-Russian "hate crimes"? Lets compare "hate crimes" against Eastern Orthodox (the main branch of Christianity for Russians) vs Catholics and Protestants in the US. Data only go back to 2015. Before that "hate crime" data didn't have a separate category for Eastern Orthodox. First, lets note the percentages of types of Christians in the US:

Protestant: 46.5%
Catholic: 20.8%
Orthodox: 0.5%
https://www.pewforum.org/2015/05/12/americas-changing-religious-landscape/

Now lets look at the numbers of bias crimes committed against Protestants, Catholics, and Orthodox:

2015
Protestant: 37
Catholic: 53
Eastern Orthodox: 48
https://ucr.fbi.gov/hate-crime/2015/tables-and-data-declarations/1tabledatadecpdf

2016
Protestant: 15
Catholic: 62
Eastern Orthodox: 28
https://ucr.fbi.gov/hate-crime/2016/tables/table-1

2017
Protestant: 40
Catholic: 73
Eastern Orthodox: 23
https://ucr.fbi.gov/hate-crime/2017/tables/table-1.xls

2018
Protestant: 34
Catholic: 53
Eastern Orthodox: 31
https://ucr.fbi.gov/hate-crime/2018/tables/table-1.xls

Why are Eastern Orthodox disproportionately targeted among Christians for bias crimes?

How'd you get your dubs?

Yeah I still don't get this, especially when Chinese Americans feel offended by the term like wtf you're an American ffs.
Yeah I can tell nobody has ever said to you, “no I mean where are you really from?” The fact is Asian Americans often have their Americanness questioned.

Having said that, I don’t find Wuhan virus or China virus offensive.

Your media is aiding CCP propaganda and its not only affecting you Americans its affecting us small timers like Indonesia and RP as it gives amunition to political extremists in our country and promote a less democratic government mostly by aligning with Beijing.

I am not a big fan of asking people from other nations for help but I begg you vote out the pro China shills in your government and call out and shame the corporations that kowtow to Beijing either directky or indirect

Our Children might face hardships and oppression not witnessed since the Spanish colonial period.

They are sinking our boats stealing our fish, molesting our women and men

They are setting shops in Manila but dont hire locals to work.

They bring in their own hookers but we are not allowed to fuck them.

I don't, it's just everyone prefers coronavirus except people with an agenda.

perhaps they are upset they are not getting due credit since it was Fauci as the acting director of the NIH((under Obama)) that gave the wuhan lab 3.7million for the study of corona virus transmission from bats?

The intent behind words matters. The intent for calling redefining it as a "Chinese" virus is to deflect blame at best and is is xenophobic and racist at worst.

The origins of the name don't matter, just the intent. For example: the N word is just Latin for "black."

Even so, many who I hear try to disparage the Chinese are directing all of their anger towards the Chinese government, and not the Chinese civilians per se. The Spanish Flu didn't originate in Spain, but it's what it's known as. Health organizations have moved away from naming viruses after their geographic origin, but it's really just an informal term.

I think the Chinese govt dropped the ball here, and being offended by the viruses name is the least of my worries.

What about all the farmers pouring out milk and destroying crops?

Certain past buyers of foods have shut down entirely. Any business that operates with only one customer is going to potentially meet problems when a crisis like this comes along.

In this moment we're seeing an actual destruction of demand, but there's also a tremendous opportunity out there for anyone willing to take it.
