Why didn't the fighters get a cut?

It's a private company.
And . . . ?

Doesn't keep it from being an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.

This shitty definition could apply to WWE too, lol.

Look at where the UFC was before the Fertitas took over, then look at it just a few years after. The fighters weren’t what made the UFC what it is today

Except that WWE is scripted unlike real sports.

But hey, whatever makes you feel better about yourself.

They're private. That's why they can ban journalists from press conferences (Ariel Helwani).

So are boxing promotions. I guess all boxing aren't sports either since they're private?

This is not a sport or a league...this is a company that's been built in the past 15 years to where it is today,
and we could all see how much the fighters contributed.

Hate to be the one to break this, but the UFC is a sports league.

not their company. would a strip club owner give his contracted strippers a cut if he sold the joint? In the words of Joey Diaz, "Get the fuck out of here"

A strip club is a strip club. The UFC is the UFC.

He never said MMA wasn't a sport.

You'e the one that said UFC is a sport.
UFC is a sport

If you're maintaining that if a promotion is private then it can't be a sport then the ONLY true sport of a MMA promotion was the IFL since it was publicly traded.

All other MMA promotions were privately owned.

UFC is not a sport, MMA is. UFC is a company that features MMA. If NBA signs a new TV deal should they reward Bill Russell, Elgin Baylor, Micheal Jordon, ect? If MLB signs a new deal should they reward Willie Mays, Johnny Bench, and Pete Rose? I don't think its happening.

A strip club is a strip club. The UFC is the UFC.
Fighters are contractors like a stripper is and UFC is pimping the fighters like a strip club owner

I think you don't get it.

MMA is the sport, the companies (wether they're private or not) are selling MMA to the people who have the money to purchase their events / PPV's ... without the fighters, there is no PPV.

by the way: The UFC is now getting into the sport of boxing.

I guess boxing is called UFC now?

And without the promotion they'd be fighting in the streets for far less money, security, medical aid, etc.

And regardless of the promotion, it's a sport.
