News Alexander Romanov is right about UFC HW fighters being cut

That's just how HW is nowadays though, Buday I'd say is clearly UFC level simply because he stumped guys consistently even if he was boring. Could've kept him as a gatekeeper for prospects but I guess it's not really worth it to do that from the UFC's perspective since 99% of HW prospects suck and would just get grinded.

Waldo might also have a short leash given how most of his fights go tbh.
90% of heavyweight fights are boring AF
I agree that HW's are boring but not all of them, Romanov was a finishing machine, only guys he won by decision against them were Espino, Blagoy (cause he was coming off 2 losses) and Rodrigo (cause he lost to Almeida prior to that fight) but all of his wins were by finishes.

All of Rozenstruik's wins in the UFC were by finishes except the Tuivasa fight.

Tbh I doubt anyone would miss any HW besides the top 3 right now. Didn't we go months without a HW fight or something? Barely heard a peep about it lol.
No, if Waldo gets cut that would be terrible, yes, he's a top contender, he's No. 6 HW and fighting No. 3 HW Pavlovich, like WTF? also he's active, he just recently fought in June and March and fighting his 3rd fight this year, and fought x2 in 2024 and 2023 and x5 in 2022, WHY DO THAT? why waste another talent?

Edit: What matters is that they win and climb the rankings, even if he upsets Pavlovich in a boring snoozefest, the UFC can't mess with the business.

Pavlovich vs Costa is a fight I'm gonna keep an eye on, the guy who could've fought Jon Jones in 2023 and had longest 1st round knockout streak in UFC history and former interim HW title challenger is fighting an active talented HW.

Wasn't that good? he was Ruslan Magomedov was 14-1 prior to that outrageous lifetime ban he got, he got a win over Shawn Jordan whom KO'd both HW Jared Cannonier and Derrick Lewis with the Sweet Chin Music prior to the Ruslan fight, Ruslan was a waste of talent tbh, he could've gotten better if he wasn't cut from the UFC.

It wasn't exactly an outrageous ban. He popped twice and then the next time he refused to even take the test.

Waldo hasn't been cut yet so he will likely be fine. He's not the most exciting but he's active and will take fights on short notice. This will be his 2nd fight in 2 months. How many heavies are that active in the top 10? None.

And he was pretty much a point karate fighter at HW, dude would've gotten mauled by actual good HWs.

I mean, if you look at the current UFC roster, you will find that in the Male divisions, HW has the least fighters

And over the past few years, some notable names has been cut from the UFC: Ruslan Magomedov (2015) Justin Willis (2019), but the ones who are recent are: Alvin Hines, Alexander Romanov, Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Robelis Despaigne, Martin Buday, Jamal Pogues, Rodrigo Nascimento, Marcos Rogério de Lima and ofc Francis Ngannou whom got his contract expired...and some other names.

Augusto Sakai is another one I was surprised they let go.

Oh, you know what other HW I forgot? Walt Harris, poor bastard lost his last fight in 2021 and was given a suspension and was expected to be back in 2027, imagine 2027? LMFAO, but was finally released this year, at least, that was one of the only few good releases the UFC did this year (like Andrea Lee when she broke the record for most consecutive losses in WMMA history in the UFC, or that Lithuanian woman Julija).

Bro, if Walt comes back in 2027, he will be 44 years old, 6 years after your last fight, that's also too damn old, how the UFC was so hesitant to release him? (Idk, the UFC is also hesistant to release Conor but Conor is the biggest golden boy the UFC had in it's whole history tho) also, he has been on a 3 fight losing streak since he lost his stepdaugher, and 3-1NC-5 in his last 8 and the NC was his winning a decision against Arlovski but tested positive, like yeah, it's over for him, he should retire and focus on whatever is good for him atm.

Ufc should def get way more criticism for fumbling the hw division so bad which is historically supposed to be the most lucrative for all parties in combat sports.

Its like the ufc must benefit from keeping it mediocre just to keep general fighter pay down.

90% of heavyweights are just lazy lightheavyweights, so...

It feels like a dead division. Besides the whole Jones saga, the division seems completely forgotten.
I can't even remember the last 3 HW fights that happened, or the name of the top 10 guys. It's a shame, always fun to see big dudes taking each other heads off.

Remember this beauty from the past?

A whole main card in under 12 minutes, lol.

Blame it on the current matchmakers, matchmakers in the past were wild, 5 HW's in a main card? that's wild.

I was there, UFC 146. Great card, prelims were awesome too. Could you imagine an all-HW main card now, would be awful.

Not surprised since you have a Fedor pfp and you Pride homosexuals who keep being nostalgic to the past would say that, well, let's see Dana and the UFC put a main card that has 5 HW fights then, Einstein

A bunch of guys who pissed hot, had several losses, or were extremely boring. It's not on the UFC to keep those guys employed.
