Why didn't the fighters get a cut?

They were not smart enough to get a cut. This is how life works. You only get what (1) you are given by a superior, (2) you can negotiate or (3) you can take by force.

These are the 3 major ways of getting something that you don't have, and/or can't create.

Whatever you have, in this life, is exactly what you deserve. LOL

why don't apple give a cut of the shares to the clerks at the Apple store or to the cleaning ladies? without them...

If the fighters want a share of the UFC they have to negotiate for it. Conor's doing exactly that right now while "the fans who care about fighter welfare" shit on him for not signing whatever contract is on the table.

In business you're owed what you negotiate, nothing more and nothing less.

This is not a sport or a league...this is a company that's been built in the past 15 years to where it is today,
and we could all see how much the fighters contributed.

1. It is a sport. Leave aside your Sherdog talking points of r a moment an realize how stupid it is to claim otherwise.

2. Of course the fighters contributed to the building of the company. The guys who repainted my house and refurbished my boiler all have a lot to do with how livable my house is, but when I sell my house, I'm not going to give them any of it.

3. If you are arguing that fighters are underpaid, I think we could find some common ground. But their efforts don't give them ownership of the promotion or entitle them to any of the receipts of the sale.

Let's start with this: They're substitutable.

Now a question back to you: Were Randy Couture and Tito Ortiz substitutable?

UFC is a sport

If you're maintaining that if a promotion is private then it can't be a sport then the ONLY true sport of a MMA promotion was the IFL since it was publicly traded.

All other MMA promotions were privately owned.

My argument isn't based on if they are privately owned or not.

It's that MMA is a sport, and the UFC is a company. This is day one stuff guy.

You don't get a college scholarship for being a stud in the sport of NFL.

Obviously the Fertitta Brothers and Dana got a fat cut from the selling of the UFC. They were the owners.
But now I hear that Joe Silva and the lawyers got a fat deal too, so they don't have to work for the of their life.
Dana said it himself.

Who else got a cut?

I know who didn't...the fighters who helped build the UFC - Randy Couture, Tito Ortiz, GSP, etc. ...none of them got a cut. But where would the UFC be without them?

And in addition to that Dana shits on them in public on a regular basis.

When you sell your property, do you usually give proceeds from the sale to people who had no ownership in the property you sold?

It is a sport

definition of sport - an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.

And the comparison stands.

MMA is a sport. The ufc is a business of selling tickets, ppv, sponsorships, advertising and rights fees to watch mma events.

The UFC let them both walk at one point didn't they?

Thanks for playing.

1. No it's not.

2. You could've easily replaced the guys and hired another group of people to do the job. Why didn't the UFC simply replace GSP? I'm not sure most other guys could've get them 7 figure PPV numbers...like the guys who painted your house.

3. No I'm not arguing that. That's different topic.

Yes. To say otherwise is either foolish or a lie. They just happen to be the guys that were chosen and made a name for themselves. If it wasn't them, there were plenty of others that could have done it. Lets not pretend they were the only guys in the world to fight in a cage.

Yes, the UFC promotes MMA (which is a sport)

So the UFC is a sports promotion.

This is by far the dumbest thing I ever read.

Exactly, you're catching on to what I'm saying now.

Promotion =/= Sport

Since those people didn't contribute anything...
Did PRIDE give anything to Fedor, Nog, Crocop when they sold to Zuffa? I mean, they were instrumental in PRIDE's success in their heyday.

The answer is, say it with me now, "no." Fighters get paid what their contract dictates.

The cookie cutter dunce reply, just what I expected. When you have no intelligent rebuttal, just throw insults and try to deflect.

I know ...but do you agree that PRIDE was a really cool sport?
