Who will benefit more from this in the rematch ? Tom or Ciryl

Do we think either fighter will have a new gameplan for the rematch?

While Gane might have some improved confidence with his performance... i think he also may be more cautious (overthinking/tense) about his hand placement and possible eyepokes, leading to an opening for Tom.

Tom might be like ok this guy is strong and i can't take him down. I can't one shot him. I need to work on my speed and endurance more because this is going to a decision.

It doesn’t matter, Tom already lost his fame. Until today most people thought he chased Jon into retirement. Today, not so much. Many think he’s a quitter that overplayed an injury.

Tom was going hard for that KO. I think the pressure from fans of him finishing Cyril in a spectacular fashion backfired.

Doubt Tom will look to stand next time. He should be far superior on the ground. I expected him to clinch and go for takedowns at every opportunity in this one. Daddy's BS about him moving to boxing may have him convinced he's a world class boxer.

The thing about Tom is he's not a wrestler. Once on the ground he's probably great. Getting it there might be the problem. Cyril did well about controlling range in this fight.

Definitely benefits Tom more. That fight was going to end very badly for him and he knew it. He took the easy way out, lived to fight another day, retained his title and will have the chance to come up with a new game plan for the rematch.

Whereas Gane, got more confidence in his ability to beat Tom... which he already thought he was going to anyway.

The fight should be much closer odds-wise. Tom was a massive favourite.

That said, Tom probably would have lost tonight, and i think he'll have a very different approach next time. Will it work? No idea, but probably more likely than he was to win tonight.

Gane should have increased confidence, but he seemed quite confident to begin with.

Reality:

He looked sloppy and tired to me. Breathing through his mouth and looking confused. I don't think he was outclassed because the fight just started, but it seemed to be heading in the wrong direction for him.

Aspinall was finding his range the deeper the fight went and Gane sensed it. I'm not saying he did the eye poke on purpose, but it was very sus.

That's a very good thing for those who don't believe this tiny sample size is an accurate representation of how this fight would've looked like had it went longer or the vast majority of the time.
