And the oil execs just told the Trump regime to their face that Venezuela is uninvestable.
Even if they wanted to do it and their was a current need for the resources, it would take decades of investment and they don't trust the place will remain stable long enough to see any sort of return for their shareholders. But there isn't even currently a need for their oil resources, lmao.
That's because the oil execs actually understand economics. Trump and his supporters are retards who think extracting more oil when there isn't an oil shortage is something
any oil company is interested in doing. Well let's see...
- You already have more oil leases in the US than you can even utilize.
- Flooding the market with oil when there isn't a shortage will cause profits to go down.
- Investing in Venezuela is going to cost tens of billions of dollars up front.
In what world does it make sense for them? Here, invest a metric fuck ton of money in a potentially hostile country just so that your profits tank. That's MAGA logic. In fact, the only way it
would make sense is if those oil companies
stopped drilling in the United States. That would allow them to save their American assets while utilizing the Venezuelan assets. But it would fuck over tens of thousands of American workers.
And really, it
still wouldn't make sense, because fossil fuels are a declining industry, and these companies have enough oil in the United States to get them through the next century.
The problem is, Trump is a Fascist, but hates Capitalism and wishes we were Communist so that he could just nationalize these industries and control them the way he wants to (which is to bend them to his personal benefit, of course).
