Opinion What if a lot of what you've heard or read about Donald Trump was categorically false?

Objectively, Trump isn't a good person

But I do think he cares for our nation on a somewhat sincere level. I agree with most of his policies as far as intention, though they could have been carried out in a better way

The people who surround him are important, and it looks like the situation is even worse in that regard, provided he wins. I have little doubt he will chase direct conflict with Iran
All respect, but how do actually know this?

Oh, look, sarcasm in substitution of knowledge or intelligence. So compelling.

Perhaps you can enlighten me to a realistic path forward to a reformation of the Republican party under a different ethos. Because I'm not seeing any appetite for that. And with guys like Vance, even should this ticket lose, I see no stirring of one to shift in a different direction.
Oh look madmick throwing another tantrum because someone doesn't agree with him. Your tantrums are not a substitute for knowledge or intelligence. It's fucking sad.

There's tons of videos on youtube showing all the lies told about trump and what he actually said compared to what they say he said. They lie about him constantly, and they allow Kamala to lie about him constantly without ever being questioned on it.

Almost everything Kamala said during the debate was a lie, and many people here said she won the debate. its bizarre. The democrats are literally a bunch of low IQ actors.

I assume you're talking about the Iran part?
Actually nevermind I misread your post. I more or less agree with what you've said, Ive just changed in the way I perceive him. Ive seen all the doumentaries on Trump including the one on Netflix when he was a real estate mogul and his possibly involvement with the mob. I know he's no angel but I do think he's gotten railroaded as a politician by corrupt left who'll pretty much do anything to discredit him.

My biggest misconception of him was that he was a coward who got out of the Vietnam War due to heel spurs. I thought Trump was a louse who'll cheat the system.

But that all changed the day he almost got his head blown off and his immediate response afterwards. Thats when I knew something was amiss with the way he was being portrayed. Thats actually when I switched from on the fence to pro Trump. Laugh all you want but the events of that day really happened.

The man loves this country and doesn't need a teleprompter to say whats on his mind good or bad. Just about every person I respect including Chamath, Elon, Tulsi and RFK were on that fence as well. Who does Harris have? F'n Taylor Smith? Can have her.

There was actually a decent editorial from FOX news recently about this. I appreciate FOX for at least covering mainstream news developments without the liberal bent pretty much every other corporate outlet does, but I've never associated FOX with insightful editorials. Not their thing. Not the kind of people under their umbrella. For that stuff from right-leaning thinkers you go to the WSJ, Reason, National Review (less so these days), etc.

The editorial asserted that Vance's dominant, highly articulate debate performance in defense of Trump spelled the end of the #nevertrump movement: the death of those like me. I fear it's right. It outlined a four point foundation envisioned by Vance at the center of the MAGA movement. I favor three of them. I typically align with Trump on how to achieve only one of those three.

RIP Never Trump GOP. Vance’s dominant debate is beginning of the end

Were any of those other outlets forced to pay out nearly $800 million because they wouldn't stop spreading defamatory lies about the outcome of the 2020 election?

LMAO @ w/out the liberal bent

This thread really brings the LOLZ

But can we get back to reality where Trump conspires with criminals like Steve Bannon to steal from his own supporters then pardons them? Where he is forced to pay $25 million dollars to victims of his fake university? Where none of his family are allowed to run a charity after stealing from kids with cancer? Where he thinks dead soldiers are losers and suckers? What's in it for them, eh? Where he steals classified documents from the US government and shows them to any rando who uses the shitter at Mar a Lago?

LOL great guy, one of the best.

To be fair an op-ed is different from reporting so while its true that FOX News is uniquely untrustworthy given what we learned in the wake of the Dominion lawsuit that doesn't mean someone can't write an insightful op-ed on the site.

Indeed, fair enough, but that's not really my point.

Even if you were in the "vote for the lesser of two evils" camp, how on earth do you give that vote to someone like Harris who's flip-flopped on a lot of the agenda items including border crisis, cryptos, foreign policy, and economy and to boot is a nazi left and would be totally lost in foreign policy.

Do you all forget how stupid she looked when Tulsi owned her? You want that as your President?

WTF

A Stronger Border? It’s hard to take that desire seriously when the GOP shut down the Border Bill co-signed by Border Patrol…Energy Independence? We are pumping the most oil now than ever. The wokeness stuff? Regardless of whose president, you will have to deal with video games having a female character without calcium cannons here and there, Trump can’t stop that I fear, we might have to stick to Janice Griffith’s classics.

But seriously Mick, Trump changes his cabinet more than he changes his diaper. JD Vance is not this savior for the right…He’s as useful as a condom with holes in it. The moment that he resembles the slightest threat to Trump’s ego, he’s getting punted like Pence.

It’s been practically 12 yrs of this shit, I don’t see eye to eye with you on most things but I think you are smart enough to see that Vance is no prophet for libertarian principles, he’s just an ass wiping utility to make Trump more digestible

Which is the bigger flip flop? Her moving her policies in a different direction or Vance's "Trump may be America's Hitler" comment followed by becoming his sycophant?

I'm always amazed at how small minded and disconnected from reality the MAGA mindset is. From their talking points you'd think we lived in some former Soviet or post-colonial state struggling to create competitive multinational corporations with endemic corruption. That's the only way this idiocy about protectionism and "drain the swamp" makes any sense.

You said everything she said was a lie and yet you can't think of one example off the top of your head?

Ive long been fan of Chamath Palihapitiya and it started with equities. He was with Goldman Sachs at the time and has roots as a Bay Arean like myself. The guy then becomes a regular on CNBC and he has a huge following.

He has a podcast called the All In and its basically an intellectuals perspective of todays most pressing current events.

He was recently on Rogans podcast and it was a great episode mostly because Rogan for once sat back and mostly let Chamath do the talking.

Please go the end of the podcast at about 2:20 and just listen. Chamath was like a lot of us. He was a liberal distrustful of Trump who he perceived to be this monster that the media portrayed him to be. If you're Trump hater, like I was up until the end of last year, hopefully tidbits like this will let you know you've been misled about Trump. He isn't the racist dimwit cheater you've been led to believe.

He's been jobbed by the democratic party which is desperate to retain power.

Edit:
This was powerful as well.

Skimmed the thread, see people automatically deflect to he is a tech bro, of course he backs Trump, etc.

But if you tack a step back and look at Trump prior to running for president, he was very well liked, whether it be celebrities, politicians, influential people like within the black community, etc, you name it. If you look at his interviews over the years, they were very well received and he has basically never changed his views, unlike typical politicians.

To a person, everyone who meets Trump are surprised by how different his from their socialized perceptions.

So far!

The $2.7 billion lawsuit from Smartmatic is still pending.

Smartmatic recently settled with Newsmax, although the details weren't disclosed. Hopefully that doesn't happen with Fox News. I want to know how much they end up paying.

Well one is vying for your immediate attention in less than a month. There is no comparison here.

You said everything she said was a lie and yet you can't think of one example off the top of your head?

Sure I can, they showed what Trump said about IVF and project 2025, those are two that come to mind. These are literal videos of trump talking about it, not articles, his own words. They showed what Kamala said, and then they showed what Trump actually said.

Let me be clear, I am not stating Trump has never lied or doesn't lie. However, this video clearly showed that Kamala is a chronic liar, and that literally everything she said about Trump during the debate was a lie.

There have been thousands of videos about the debate now, I will probably never be able to find that specific video again.

What lie did Kamala tell?

During the debate? lol...

Kamala claim: “As of today, there is not one member of the United States military who is in active duty in a combat zone in any war zone around the world, the first time this century.”

Fact check: Our troops in Middle East are absolutely in a combat zone, under attack from Iran, which the Biden-Harris administration has allowed to grow more aggressive in its use of proxies. In January this year, three US soldiers in Jordan were killed by a drone attack from an Iran-aligned group, and dozens of others have been wounded in similar strikes.

Kamala claim: “What you’re going to hear tonight is a detailed and dangerous plan called Project 2025 that the former president intends on implementing if he were elected again.”

Fact check: The Heritage Foundation, an independent think tank, produced Project 2025, not the Trump campaign. Trump has repeatedly said he wasn’t involved in its writing, does not believe in its policies and won’t implement it.

Kamala claim: “Let’s remember, this is the same individual who took out a full-page ad in the New York Times calling for the execution of five young black and Latino boys who were innocent, the Central Park Five. Took out a full-page ad calling for their execution.”

Fact check: Trump’s 1989 advertisement did not call for the execution of the Central Park Five. He talked about a woman raped in the park, but did not mention the names of suspects or who they were. Titled “Bring Back the Death Penalty. Bring Back the Police,” Trump simply bemoaned how generally unsafe New York City had become, and that criminals needed to be held accountable. His cri de cœur preceded what would become a general backlash against disorder in Gotham that led to the election of Rudy Giuliani as mayor and more proactive policing.

Kamala claim: “I have not banned fracking as vice president of the United States, and in fact, I was the tie-breaking vote on the Inflation Reduction Act, which opened new leases for fracking.”

Fact check: Harris passed the bill because it was packed with left-wing giveaways. Those new leases were not the point of the bill, and only begrudgingly included to assuage Sen. Joe Manchin. Later, Manchin would accuse President Biden and Harris of going back on their word, saying new regulations were undermining the lease promises. “This is bulls–t,” he told Politico. “So they’re gonna basically starve us out of energy that we have a tremendous, abundant supply of because of their aspirational thoughts?”

Kamala claim: “Nowhere in America is a woman carrying a pregnancy to term and asking for an abortion. That is not happening.”

Fact check: As the Daily Signal points out, Minnesota had a 2015 law that required doctors to report whether abortions resulted in the live birth of a baby. In 2021, it happened at least five times, but no measures were taken to keep them alive. In 2023, Gov. Tim Walz stripped out that reporting requirement as part of an abortion law that has no limitations on how late in a pregnancy it may happen

Kamala claim: “Let’s remember Charlottesville, where there was a mob of people carrying tiki torches, spewing antisemitic hate, and what did the president then at the time say? There were fine people on each side.”

Fact check: Harris, along with Biden, always leaves out what Trump said next: “I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists, because they should be condemned totally. But you had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists.” Snopes has labeled “false” the idea that Trump praised neo-Nazis.
