I think thats because it doesnt mast. Conor shit the bed in the second half of his stardom and losing to Kahbib was a big deal. I dont think anyone took Cejudos serious because of Mighty Mouse (that was a robbery). Jones is the same, IMO - most fans I know who are serious about MMA know how good Jones is but getting a setup fight agaisnt Gane was lame as fuck, and now he wont fight tom.

People will finally see the same thing with Pereira, the UFC brought him in to fight Izzy, he got handpicked matchups to get there, got a title shot with an incredibly small amount of MMA fights, beat Izzy, then got KO’d by Izzy, ran to LHW, arguably lost to an old Jan who was considered mediocre when he was in a good division, beat Jiri who is good, but a perfect matchup for him, beat Hill who sucks and is a good matchup, beat Roundtree who is mediocre and a good matchup, then loses to Ank who was the first guy to pose any type of stylistic issues for him

Serious and even most unserious fans are gonna understand this on some level, especially if he loses more and the UFC stops the marketing push behind him

I mean it is a little different though. Chandler was in a position where he could've been a top contender, but sat out waiting for a guy who hadn't fought for years.
