So I did complete Days Gone. Very enjoyable game for me. Would rate like 8.7 out of 10. Great story, and mission variety and everything I wrote about prior. A completionist approach though is kind of boring and cutting throw hordes late in game when you have awesome weapons gets a stale.

I've now moved on to Mass Effect 1 Remastered. I bought the Remastered Trilogy a while ago on sale and had never played any Mass Effect game before. I plan on doing 1 through 3 in order, but probably focus on another game in between.

It's odd in that it feels it's sum is greater than its individual parts.

Pros:
+ well written and voice acted
+ pretty mature plot, and speaking options no matter which route you go, aren't childish or extreme
+ variety of environments
+ the bells and whistles you can add to your weapons through ammo types

Cons:
- Side missions are quite short and scattered and struggle to hold my interest, lot of boring collect shit stuff
- leveling up frequency is high for marginal change of stats
- enemy variety is pretty limited and rather unimaginative for the most part
- over collection of items, and would prefer quick equipment optimization
- combat is only somewhat satisfying, and it's kind of tough to figure out what the hell the rest of your party is doing
- some of the terrains you drive over are unnecessarily hilly and annoying to traverse
- your character can only run for like 30 feet before becoming winded which is annoying
- pistols seem to be a completely useless weapon
- not having someone in your selected party with the ability to open encoded items is kind of annoying

So yeah, I find it easier to talk about the parts I don't like, yet overall, for some reason which I can't really put my finger on, I'm really enjoying the game. Maybe it's because despite it being so sci-fi, the characters feel pretty real. I'd say it's a 7.7 out of 10 so far, and kind of has me itching to jump right to ME2 when I'm done. I think I'm going to skip a lot of the optional Assignment from here to completion since my characters seem to be sufficiently powered.

I've played the ME Trilogy loads of times (I haven't tried the remasters yet but they're in my backlog). ME2 is definitely a huge step up from the first game in terms of gameplay and addresses a lot of the issues you list. ME1 is a brilliant story, but usually when I replay it I just put the difficulty to casual so I can blast through everything without having to fuck with combat and inventory which is badly dated. On the other hand I love the combat in ME2 and especially ME3

ME2 is one of the greatest games ever, especially with all the DLC mixed in, so you're in for a good time for sure

I have Divinity: Original Sin 1 and 2 in my PS5 backlog but noticed they’re on sale on Steam right now ($13 and $21 Canadian respectively). Just wondering if anyone can comment on how playable these games are on console vs PC. I’ve never played a crpg on console before so I have no idea if games like Divinity, Pillars of Eternity, or Baldur’s Gate can provide a good experience on console or if it’s a case where the gameplay really suffers as a result of a potentially borked control scheme on console vs PC. For example, until Diablo 2 Resurrected came out two years ago I scoffed at the notion of playing a Diablo game on console, but it was surprisingly playable. So I’m curious if it’s the same for the Divinity games or if it’s worth taking advantage of this sale and picking the games up for my gaming laptop instead.

Can second Zer's opinion on ME2, its on my 'Top 3 Games of the Decade 2010-2019' list.

While ME1 only needs to be played through twice, each as a Paragon or Renegade, making opposing decisions, in ME2 there's multiple of ways to replay the game with a mechanic I won't spoil for you.

Be 100% sure you carry your save over from ME1 to ME2.

Will do, thx for the heads up.

Actually, I realized while playing that I kind of messed up because I've been maxing out my skill points on both Charisma and Intimidation. I guess I wanted to be able to have all talking options, and to be a nice guy when I want to, and a bad ass when I want to, thinking there's be logical times where you choose between the two. But it appears the rewards happen when you are either a bad guy all the time, or a nice guy all the time.

Anyhow, I'm pretty sure I won't do a second run of ME1, I will just jump into ME2 with the prior run. If that means less advanced stats to start off, I'm ok with that, it seems like it'd be more fun to level up with ME2 instead of ME1 anyways.

"Diablo" is far more natural for a controller, than a tactical CRPG. It's just walking and clicking. Very easy to make that controller friendly. I've played a few CRPG's on consoles, and they're basically "good enough", if you have nothing else. It's why I've avoided the Divinity games on console. They sound amazing, but I just know that the controller isn't gonna be all that fun to play it with. There's always too many menus and "point and click" tactics, and using the stick as a mouse is not ideal.

If you start ME2 without using a ME1 save it gives you an interactive comic to make all the major story choices from ME1.

And I'm very sure your stats from ME1 doesn't carry over to ME2. Its a very different upgrade system.

Went back and finished RDR2 after 160 hours. Probably the most beautiful game I've ever played. I have some complaints, but nothing that could really sour the experience.

How do you guys manage to finish these long ass rpgs? I’ve put 90+ hours into P5R and I STILL have a bit of ways to go.

Speaking of rpgs, should I side with Mr. House or Yes Man? I’m leaning towards Mr. House but I’m not entirely sure.

I will probably start The Order 1886 tomorrow. I got it for like $15 years ago and have never got around to it yet. I know it didnt review well but a thing mentioned a lot is it felt like a ripoff at $60 because of how short it is. With how cheap i got it that wont really be a factor.
It is a beautiful game for its time. You can get it done in one weekend. Maybe 5 hours? The game is more like a movie.

@GearSolidMetal @Zer

I finished off ME1 today and going into ME2. Without spoilers, and recommendations on a more preferable playthrough? Being a goody-goody, or being a renegade?

I didn't bother saving the Council, because they were a bunch of useless fucks. I feel like I made a mistake though by choosing the Ambassador Diplomat the new leader of the council instead of the Commander

For the 1st ME2 playthrough as a continuation of your ME1 save, keep being Renegade.

For your 2nd ME2 playthrough, do the ME1 interactive comic choosing all the Paragon choices & play ME2 as a Paragon.

My recommendation - Don't read any reviews of ME2 because they're usually full of spoilers. Go into this completely blind but knowing it's significantly better than ME1 in every way, and its probably going to be the 1st time, of many, times you'll play through it.

Well personally every time I've played an ME I've gone full paragon because I hate seeing my Shep be an asshole, and I'm pretty saintly irl

On ME1, once you get the pistol skill and it's ability maxed out, it becomes straight murder. Increased fire rate tears through everything.

I've played through ME1 and ME2 a few times, as an Adept and an Infiltrator. Pistol always carried me through.

Went through the mining tutorial bit on Starfield and quickly realised that I'm going to need a few hours of not thinking about going to work in two hours time.

The game looks pretty good, combat felt a little clunky and I had trouble finding the enemy because of the palates.

I kind of want to see more, but I have too much that I have to do in my personal life to really dedicate myself to it right now.

I've somehow put 60 hours into Brotato. Despite hating that I can't permanently upgrade my character like in Vampire Survivors but it still draws me in.

Vanquish is such a dope game. Shame it never got a sequel. And it’s weird how it’s not available on the Switch.

Recently got through Doom Eternal, Super Hot, and Sonic Mania. I'm about to restart Breath of the Wild (never finished) and am also gonna start Elden Ring soon when it comes in the mail and am probably about halfway through with Maria Rabbids 2.
