I've never been good at parrying in games that have this feature. It seems like Sekiro relies on this and the window to parry an attack is a micro second.

I just wanted to play through the game to see what the story was about.

All my games seem like they're too hard or I'm just getting old. I'll be 41 soon.

Maybe I'll try Assassins Creed Odyssey.

"Sekiro" is one of the hardest games out there, so don't get too discouraged. It's not for everybody.

AC:O is more standard fare difficulty. You shouldn't have much of a problem getting into it.

Yea Sekiro is not just a hard game it's probably the hardest From game there is. I'm not to much younger than you but it was a challenge. You basically have to understand that you will die a lot and will keep dying until you better understand the game mechanics. If you're not ok with that move on.

Arise Oh, Penitent One !!

Started Blasphemous II and it doesn’t seem as dark as the first one.

Our userbase skews older; our serving a niche of social nook for antisocials who largely snicker at younger-gen social media keeps that in check. 35-55 means you’re in like company. We’re here and crushing it as parry and riposting reapers. Outfoxing jittery zoomer joyboys. You can go full Okami and fulfil your destiny, I’ve no doubt. But you have to want it. It’s a game of goals.

I've been playing Witcher 3, again, but doing some things different.

First, I'm playing on NewGamePlus and the NextGen Upgrade added something I haven't previously heard about. Remember all the awesome bonuses the Blood&Wine Grandmastered Armors have? Well previously when you carry them over to a new playthrough NewGamePlus they quickly become very underpowered and when you needed to get new armor you had to sacrifice those awesome bonuses.... but not anymore.
The 'legendary' versions of all the Witcher armors feature all those awesome bonuses, so you'll have a blast playing through the entirety of your new playthrough with the bonuses you usually got at the final section of the game.

*For the first time, I killed Keira Metz, just to see how it effects the rest of the playthrough, and it changes very little. She's not at Kaer Morhen during the seige, and Geralt only mentions her a few times to Yennefer & Triss and they don't ask for further details. After Kaer Morhen, in the conversations about finding sorceresses that were in The Lodge, Triss says she'll contact Keira.
Later in Novigrad, to Triss, Geralt says 'Keira won't be joining us' and Triss just accepts it without asking any questions. I'm roughly 3/4ths through the main game, and I doubt there'll be any more consequences, but it would have been very interesting if there was a devious sub-plot about Geralt trying to keep Triss & Yennefer from discovering he murdered her, with a confrontation between the three.

*I allowed Lambert to die during the siege at Kaer Morhen... and... practically nothing happens. Geralt just mentions having to 'prepare for the funeral for Vessimir & Lambert' rather than 'prepare for the funeral for Vessimir.' And Lambert's body is next to Vessimir's on the pyres.

I'll follow up after I finish the main game, before the expansions.

Does anyone know if there’s a way to make a “party” with someone that’s on a different platform in a cross platform game? I’ve been playing Quake 2 remastered on PS5 but wanted to play with my older brother who so far only has it for PC, playing via Steam.
You need to check if they offer it. Some games don't have that option.

Is Dying Light hard as fuck or do I just suck at the game?

Everyone says FromSoft makes the hardest games.. I can't even get past the very first night time zombies in Dying Light on easy mode. This is basically the damn tutorial I'm stuck in..

FromSoft is a cakewalk compared to Dying Light
Just keep running. Dying light isn't too hard but you have to constantly move. There is no real exploration for me. I am not good enough to do that.

Did you try Discord? I know games like Diablo 4 have cross platform voice chat but then games like Rocket League don't. You should try Discord.

I just turned 43, and NES games were way harder and I think that's carried over. Although I play more indie and casual games though. Never played a FromSoft game but I got through Hellblade and some tougher platformers like Blasphemous and Hollow Knight or heavy action games like Ruiner. Just gotta warm up them old bones man. Have a coffee and limber up.

I got Starfield to play but I wanted to wrap up God of War first so I powered through it tonight. It was pretty good, with spectacular visuals and smooth gameplay. I'm not a huge fan of the hack and slash genre tbh so I wouldn't say it was the most enjoyable for me personally but I appreciated that it wasn't like Dark Souls hard

I'm also playing the Halo Collection. I'm like halfway through Halo 2. It's my first time with the Halo sequels. tbh it's kind of slog, and the only improvement from the first game are a couple of weapons. The Flood are a really lame enemy and not fun to play against, and the level design is generally the same kind of stuff from OG Halo. Eager to get to Halo 3 to see if that improves anything

Also playing Turbo Overkill, which I guess makes Halo look worse because as slow paced as Halo is this game is really slick. It emphasizes fast paced movement and has grappling hooks and wallrunning and double jumps and dashing and sliding ... It feels good flying around the levels taking enemies out one by one and the weapons are very satisfying. The cyberpunk aesthetic is really strong, and you definitely get a shitload of content in terms of levels. It's really good

I picked up Turbo Overkill a little while ago. Haven’t played yet but looking forward to it as I’ve heard lots of great things about it.

Been playing a bit more of Witcher 3, and something happened I previously had no clue about -

Wheb rescuing Phillipa Eilheart out of Dijkstra's bathhouse you're confronted by him. You're given the option of either telling him useful information about Radovid, or 'shove him out of the way.' So, for the first time chose 'shove him.' And Geralt took things much farther than I expected.

I was curious about how this effected the rest of the 'Conspiracy To Kill Radovid' missions, and I'm well into the 3rd act nearing the finale and... nothing has happened. There's been no new missions regarding the conspiracy storyline after breaking Dijkstra's leg.

So I looked it up, and...

"If you shove Dijkstra away, you will miss the chance to play the plot to kill Radovid. You also lose all credit with him, and you cannot count on any help from him later on.

If you tell him about the emperor, you not only will get Philipa out of the bath house without trouble, but you also get the chance to play the plot to kill Radivid.

Take your pick.."

Well shit, thats disappointing.

Love the first one to death, I deem it one of the best Metroidvanias of all time!
As for the second one, just waiting for my schedule to loosen up a bit so I can devote to it as intended
I'm pretty sure I'll obsess about 100%-ing it right away...

Finished the main Witcher 3 campaign.

*Philippa Eilheart is the leader of 'The Lodge' and she's supposedly hundreds of years old and catches onto manipulations very easily & quickly. I was sure if there's ONE character to catch on that I killed Keira Metz, and would have made some reference to her suspicions in the one quest she accompanies Geralt on, to acquire the sunstone.

And..... nothing.

Yup, absolutely nothing at all.

Anyway, for the first time ever I got the 'Ciri becomes a Witcher' ending and one of the epilogues it reveals that her father, the Emperor, loses the war and is killed. I imagine both are because whatever conspiracy to kill Radovid failed because Geralt wasn't involved. I was planning on allow Dijkstra to take the throne, sacrificing Roche & Tess.

In my 6 times playing the game, I've never made that choice because there's no way in blue hell Geralt, under any conditions, would go along with that. It is, quite simply, the worst writing in the entire game including the expansions.

About to start Heart Of Stone. Hoping to go through most of it very quick. There's many parts of this expansion that are not fun to replay through multiple times.

Sea of Stars

Already laid out my initial impressions in the official thread, but in short, if you like retro JRPG's, there is no better. I'm only past the big tutorial, but I can't see it going for a shit. The people who made this, were not fucking around. I'll hold off on a final judgement, but it's easily the best retro JRPG I've played. For reference, "Chained Echoes" was pretty good, but doesn't hold a candle to this game. So far at least. Check it out. It's crazy good.

Holy fuck was I right about this. The more I've played Heart Of Stone, and this will be the 6th time, the more I dislike it besides the story.

This is the first time playing it on Death Match, and I'm fully upgraded with the Grandmaster Griffin Armor from Blood & Wine, and there's 2 bosses that are impossible.

First, the Koferi Mage, who will kill you with 2 hits, which thankfully you can run away from.

Second, is the Wriath boss in the Von Eric estate. Who heals through the paintings FAR too quickly, quicker than you can get to the painting to strike it. At no point did the wraith ever get below 3/4 health in my 15 minutes of fighting it, and I even looked up all the tips to fight it, which were only effective at the lower difficulties... which I was basically forced to get past it, screwing up my Death March run through the game.

Speaking of which 2 of the 5 sections of Heart Of Stone are 100% not fun to play through again.

Taking the contract to the first Geralt, Gaunter O'Dimm, & Von Eric meeting - Fun.
The Wedding - Not Fun, but brief, the high point is Shani being adorable.
The Heist - Best section of the expansion, by far - Very Fun.
The Von Eric Estate - The WORST section of Witcher 3 and its expansion, by a very wide margin.
The Finale - A Great resolution, fun.

Even the fun parts don't have any unique-fun battles, with the exception of the Koferi Mage. (At lower difficulties) Otherwise its a bore to play through, gameplay-wise.

And everything you do, from the beginning to the finale, barely gives you any experience. 20xp to 40xp at a time, and I went through the entirety of the expansion without leveling up once. (That said, at this point in the game it takes 2000xp to level up, but one conversation with Regis in Blood & Wine gives more xp than the entirety of Heart Of Stone.)

If it seems like I'm shitting on Heart of Stone, keep in mind its included on the greatest game of the last 13 years, and its doubtful anyone will have played through it as many times as I have, and on Death Match (not recommended). So if you're only playing through it once you're still going to have a blast because of the story. I'm just overanalitical and jaded.

It includes, quite possibly, the greatest antagonist in the history of videogames.

Finished Armored Core 6 after about 25 hours. My first AC game, one of the best games I’ve played this year, and one of the best From Soft games I’ve ever played.

Going through the campaign a couple more times to get all the endings. I never get tired of the combat so I’m more than happy to put another 15-20 in.

I think when I played it I foolishly tried to do some side missions that I was very underpowered to do. By doing easier side missions instead I built my character strength up so that they were much more palatable. Maybe we all were making the same mistake lol.

I played multiplayer. The game got really easy when I met these two people who duped these orange legendary weapons and gave a bunch to me.

The problem with multiplayer is that everyone is usually in a hurry. It’s a mad scramble to go from one objective to another. It has been a while since I played. I wasn’t sure I was going to play part 2
