Sometimes entire industries with no organic demand will be propped up by government and make a ton of money even though they should die. The entire market is rigged by enormous subsidies that go to favoured businesses. There hasn't been a true free market in the US for almost a century. When the lefties clamored for more green subsidies, enriching random companies that might be complete trash was always what it entailed. Worldwide the amount of bad ideas and garbage products that have been propped up by green subsidies is sure to be absolutely astounding.

We have the richest man on the planet, who has control of federal spending, actively cutting environmental protections while still collecting subsidies that were intended to prop up an industry for environmental purposes, which is an industry that he controls the majority market share of.

I’m not criticizing subsidies in general, I’m just commiserating with leftists, because rightoids in here are acting like they can’t understand why anyone is upset about this because Democrats were in power when the subsidies were approved.

Democrats clearly approved the subsidies because they felt it advanced the environmentalism cause, and now Elon is gutting environmental protections.

It’s just unprecedented and inconsistent. If he truly believes that electric vehicles are good for the environment, then why not stand behind other protections for the environment? If he’s cutting environmental protections, the only message he is sending is that spending money on environmental causes is wasteful unless it’s going directly to him, and the he alone can spend money effectively to save the environment. Seems particularly corrupt and narcissistic.
