Opinion War Room Government Shutdown over/under predictions

You have absolutely no idea how stupid you sound here, and I find that endlessly amusing.

The burden of proof being on the person making the claim isn't a "me" thing. It's an "almost every political, legal, and philosophical scholar in the history of our species" thing.

<Dany07>

God this forum makes me laugh.

Edit - I will add that you did admit that the 85% thing was bullshit, though, and that's more than what the vast majority of the other MAGA people on this forum would do. So kudos.
I did give you the relevant stats.

What really surprised me was that rich people support the democrats more than the Republicans. The propaganda had me thinking otherwise.

I have to give credit where credit is due. You got me on the 85% of 42 million. But my point still remains with your correction.

I think Those subsidies will be extended, but not as a part of the shutdown. Probably by 6 months to give Congress time to fix a broken system.
You're ducking the question: Why's the GOP not just extending the subsidies now as part of a move to end the shutdown? They've had plenty of time to extend it but have dragged their feet.

Politicians on both sides are assholes.

If a 6 month extension to Obama care would open the government, then they should go for it, all of them.
The problem is that the democrats want more, much more. And the Republicans don't want to do anything until after the government is open. Assholes.

Do you know why little kids pick their nose and eat it? They think it's candy but it's not. The Republicans have decided to play chicken. There's the cruelty. If the Dems cave here (as they've already done on other occasions) the Republicans will be assured there's no limit to the scumfuckery they can inflict on the American people.

Well aint that a cute metaphor!

...but here’s the problem -- turning millions of people into "cartoon villains" doesn’t make you enlightened -- it just means you’ve joined the "fan club" for your favorite flavor of bullshit. I can appreciate you love the taste, but it is most DEFINITELY bullshit. The immediate urge to call your "other half" the (R) that are yer fellow countrymen "scumfuckery" really shows the unwillingness to work for what is best for "the people" in the first place... so I guess congrats on that...

... meanwhile -- BOTH sides keep yelling “they started it!” -- while the country fumbles for a light switch that hasn’t worked in decades... Ya might THINK you are watching "heroes vs villains" -- but what yer REALLY watching is a two party hostage negotiation -- where the ransom = the general public.

...but I digress… sometimes the worst part ain't even the leaders -- it’s the fanatics who still clap -- blind and loyal to their color propaganda -- begging for another kick in the teeth....

You can dress dysfunction up in red or blue all you want -- different brand, same stench.

IN ALL SERIOUSNESS! -- The good news at this point -- the (R) and (D) have to work together -- we’re running out of shit for them to break separately anyways...

What do you think the Republicans would have to offer to peal off 10 Democratic votes in the Senate?
rephrase the question? -- you mean like a klondike bar, or do you really want me to dive into it...

You're ducking again. Why not just extend the subsidies in a long term deal they'e had months to hammer out?

The GOP only needs about 10 Democrats to vote with him. What would the GOP have to agree to get those defections? You act like the GOP is powerless to offer any carrots here.

I'm wondering if the subsidies can even happen during a shutdown. There is no money for it if the government is closed.

You got an answer for this problem?

Ducking what?

You just pass a bill including subsidies and tie it to a bill to reopen the government. Of course, it requires reopening the House, which the GOP is allergic to at this point.

You act like this is some impossible maneuver that never happens.

It's not impossible, but look at the people involved in these decisions.

Actually it's easy and the shutdown should never have happened in the first place.

You mean look at Republicans who have had almost 20 years to come up with a health care alternative to the ACA and have nothing to show for it?

No, I mean look at politicians in general, and those in office right now in particular.

There's just too much hate and I see it in this sub forum too.

I totally forgot that the dems had the presidency with Obama, control of the house and a 60 seat filibuster proof Senate.

Why didn't they deliver a health care system that actually worked for the people?

Furthermore, they could have solved many problems with that power. My guy Obama let me down. I was hoping for change, but it never happened.

Edit: And what happened after the dems passed Obamacare? The Supreme Court ruled that it was unconstitutional. In an unprecedented move, Supreme Court Justice Roberts "fixed" it for them.

Ah, was just clarifying -- but last I checked the fail total was 54-46 with Rand Paul ditchin' the GOP and Fetterman + 2 others swappin' over? I got respect for Fetterman -- he genuinely really actually cares for his base -- either that or he has that unmistakable stink of a political "survival act"... one or the other...

... pretty funny to watch his own party throw 'em under the bus for not simply towing party lines -- then again, the (D) really do seem to enjoy eating their own -- even more so than the (R)

Anyways -- (just my opinion) You don’t "buy" or "peel" votes anymore -- you rent them simply for "optics". Toss in something symbolic (lets hit all the fuckin' greatest hits!)

If the GOOP wants 6-8 Democraps -- They gotta make it look like a handshake and feel like a chokehold -- toss in back pay (bribe) -- a few shiny state projects (optics) -- dangle in some veteran affairs funding (exploit the vets) slap out a press release about “bipartisan courage” (bullshit + save face) -- everyone gets a photo-op -- nobody gets a conscience.

That number -- I mean maybe it could be done.

The truth? This fuckin' shutdown ends when both parties finally run out of new ways to screw the same people separately. Then they’ll call it "unity" -- and likely bill the taxpayer for the clean up...

Are you familiar with the Filibuster and Cloture rules?

A better analogy is the Republican wants to drive to work, but the Democrat is acting like a child and sitting on the windshield throwing a tantrum.

Are you aware that the Republican party has the majority in of the House, the Senate, and the Presidency?

Either do I, but I do know that it takes Democrat votes in the Senate to pass the CR. What is your excuse?

That the GOP controls the house, senate, and Presidency. Remember, Trump said...

"We don't need to negotiate with the Democrats. We have enough votes that we don't need them."

If it only took 51 Republican votes in the Senate, the government wouldn't have shut down.

Are you wearing your Antifa cap?

42 million people depend on SNAP and about 85% of them are democrat voters. I wonder how many are going to vote with their bellies?

Our man caN13 is going in deep on math.
