They did not need to stage it to cut aid. And I don't actually think that Trump cut aid for not getting an apology. Today Zelensky said that the end of the war was "very, very far away." Apparently that was the last thing that Trump wanted to hear.

Fico stated that at the meeting in Brussels, Slovakia will not support any military or financial aid if it contributes to prolonging the fighting. Moreover, he threatened to use the veto, the news agency writes.

Agreed, and it is clearly beyond that, because like Schiff, Clinton, Biden, Obama, etc, they are full on behind them, find them, and their teams leak supposed information to perpetuate them.
