I saw this comment earlier, and the more I think about it, maybe it was a ploy by Zelensky, Trump, and Vance.

Publicly display a rift in diplomatic relations. Now when Zelensky goes back to EU leaders, he can press the importance of their contribution. Everyone in that room knows that the EU should be contributing more.

Zelensky is an actor, Trump is a showman, and Vance can't be THAT dumb, he just needs to work on his delivery.

Zelensky has already made a public showing of gratitude by saying "Thank you" to all of the EU foreign leaders on Twitter. Thanking them in advance gives the perception that they will definitely help.

It's actually pretty insane a celebrity Billionaire/Reality Star vs a Comedian/actor who now portrays himself, and is accepted as a "military leader" via wearing the "correct clothing"? Both became President having zero experience are now the focal points, of dragging the rest of the world into WW3. We're doomed.

It's funny because they’re actually pretty similar. Both were outsiders with no prior political experience, like you said, both were elected as anti-establishment presidents because people were tired of the same old shit. Both faced enormous criticism and struggled to take on the system once in office.
That said, Zelensky wasn’t doing well before the invasion, so who knows if he’d even still be president today? His term officially ended in May 2024. Trump with all his flaws is the only leader seriously talking about peace and working towards that, which is more than we’ve seen in a long time.
