and usyk does it in spots, too. he put his weight into his punches and put bellew to sleep. it's his style, he's light on his feet and he chips away at people until they slow down and then he starts beating them up.Floyd did do that though. He fought toe to toe with Maidana, when the guys only shot was to land a bomb. He did the same with Cotto when he could have easily outboxed him on the outside.
People are surprised that he let a guy like Witherspoon make a somewhat competitive fight with him, which I think is a reasonable response. We're talking about a guy that some people have in the top 3 P4P. I think its a reasonable question to ask how he's going to dominate HW, as many are predicting, when he could barely dominate a guy who's not even gatekeeper status.
how did he barely dominate witherspoon, though? did you have usyk losing any rounds? i didn't. winning every round and concussing your opponent to the point where his corner stops it in 7 rounds sounds like a pretty good outcome to me. sure, he didn't blitz the guy in 2 rounds, but that's not how usyk fights. he needs 5 rounds to read his opponents and then he fucks them up. i honestly don't see what bothered people about his performance. it looked like every other fight of his.
