The level of striking in the UFC is different than smaller organizations. Usman needs at least a few fights in the UFC before he takes on top 10 fighters.

Honestly, both should be signed. Amru is the best lightweight prospect and Usman is already a proven elite LW. If UFC somehow manages not to sign either of them, it wouldn't just be a letdown it would be straight up malpractice.

I think the issue they might have with Usman is that if the other guy isn't aggressive with him and turns it into a scrap like Hughes and Hamel did then his fights can be unbelievably boring like the Patricky, Shabliy and Primus ones were.

I think you solve that issue by signing him and having him face the best the UFC can offer. I actually think it's impressive how he completely shuts out dangerous guys like Shabliy. But I do agree he should have let loose more in the Patricky and Primus fights. Once he is in the UFC and facing tougher more aggressive fighters I think the fights will naturally be more entertaining.
