Lets now assume that your partner knows that you are a guy who from the rubber guard likes to go for triangles and he figures that if he were in slight danger he would "simply" posture up. Like my personal situation lets assume that you are a small 155 pounder that rolls with 200+ pounders most of the time.

Lets Get Started:

We start off with our opponent already broken down in our rubber guard. Secure a grip and hold on, your opponent might try to muscle out. This is a good way for you to "chill" and save energy while your opponent fights in fustration, assuming he tries to power out.

<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v204/Resendiz/IMG_0059.jpg" alt="Image hosted by Photobucket.com">

Now I must grab his wrist. Same way as if I were going for a triangle, remember that thats what you want him to think. I begin to bring my left knee up close to his head.

<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v204/Resendiz/IMG_0062.jpg" alt="Image hosted by Photobucket.com">

Now he notices that im going for a triangle setup and immediately postures up. When he does this it will be up to your good timing to land this correctly. I push his right hand inwards and swing my left leg over his head.
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v204/Resendiz/IMG_0078.jpg" alt="Image hosted by Photobucket.com">

It will look like this when the swing motion is over.
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v204/Resendiz/IMG_0080.jpg" alt="Image hosted by Photobucket.com">

With my left leg I will apply pressure on his neck by pressing downwards. My right hand will grab his belt for maximum grip. NOTICE how my left leg is applying pressure on his neck.
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v204/Resendiz/IMG_0081.jpg" alt="Image hosted by Photobucket.com">

Once my left leg has put too much pressure for his neck to handle (if done right there can be tremendous pressure applied) I will now UNDERhook his left arm with my right.
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v204/Resendiz/IMG_0083.jpg" alt="Image hosted by Photobucket.com">

From here i have three finishes that i like to do, omoplata, kimura and straight arm lock.

<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v204/Resendiz/Triple.jpg" alt="Image hosted by Photobucket.com">

There are MANY ways to use this set up. sometimes the guy wont posture but instead HUG the shit out of you. For that i use my elbow to push their head away and then i just follow the steps in this technique. There will always be different guys doing different things, but i belive that this technique is one of my easieast ones to land belive it or not. They just dont expect it. Ive cought few black belts with it and they said they didnt expect that. Many ways to set it up, but this is the basic.

Enjoy!

dude i like that rubber guard set up thats nice o btw its anthony..... the guy that trains with mushroom and that happens to me often now that they see the triangle coming so ill be sure to use that same set up

<b>Getting more Effectiveness in the Armbar</b>

The Armbar is a very lethal and effective technique when it comes to ground fighting. Here i'll share with you some tips on doing the Armbar right/better.

1.Remember to pull your hips up and as high as you can. Without doing this, the armbar is useless.

2.Keep both feet tucked onto the opponents face. You can apply even more pain to the opponent by tucking both feet in solidly towards the opponents face and body.

3.Keep both knees closed and touching each other. This keeps your legs solid.

4.Look for ways to manipulate out of the armbar. If the guy is bending his arm to prevent you form doing the armbar and his other arm is free, switch sides and armbar that. Look for ways to manipulate over the Opponent.

5.Keep the arm grasped tight. You can also pull the arm towards you.

6.Enjoy.

A weird one I picked up in class the other day:

1. You are in scarf hold on top.
2. Your opponent (O) has the underhook ready to escape.
3. Grab your nearest leg behind the knee with the arm round O's head.
4. Hook O's nearest leg with your other arm and grab your other thigh.
5. Lean back into O and bring your legs together. This bends O very uncomfortably around your body.

I'm not an expert on this one but I saw it used by a blue on another blue. Everyone goes for the underhook escape in scarf hold so opportunity for this one will come all the time.

Half Guard Pass

1.jpg

1. In this situation, I am in Brian's Half Guard - to begin my Pass, I bring my right foot close to his butt. I also control him by putting my left arm under his neck and cup his bicep - this is important so that he does not roll up onto me during step #2.

2.jpg

2. Once my position is secure, I slide my left leg on his body as shown - almost lying side by side with him.

3.jpg

3. I use my right arm to open his legs and 'cradle' him. If I spread my right leg back and tighten my arms, it will cause pain.

4.jpg

4. I switch my base to release my right leg. Now I am out.

It's "The Rutten Choke". Check out Bas tapes, books, or Pancrase fights.

I've hit the move on a LOT of people. I've got a decent Judo background, so I get guys there often.

I personally don't like the choke finish. I'd rather just shuck the leg off and get a side position.
It's basically just a hard stack pass with a little bling added. My drawings were just whipped up. I'll submit some better illustrations next time.

Sorry, I had to delete the Butterfly Guard Hug Around Chest Pass for now...

Good stuff Frodo, my ronin friend...

Here's a basic "beginners" move to get from being side mounted to getting half guard. I still use it all the time with good results. Something I sketched up today:

Me too. However Frodo pointed out some things in another thread about the technique, so just a few quick notes:

The technique is GI specifc, and really JUDO specific. The technique is very basic and old school, but it works.

It's gi specifc because being able to control the far leg with the pant leg is crucial. In no-gi they'll leg triangle your arm or some other dasteredly thing. With the gi pant you have good control.

It's Judo specifc because judo guys stop at the pin. Once they have a side mount, it's a pin, and they're done. Judo guys (in a tournament for example), will NOT go for a sub if they have a pin. So the possibility of space opening up for a standard "knee in, shrimp out, push away" kind of move is very remote. This technique is something to try when stuck under a powerful side pin.

if someone has the firemans carry with the gi , post it, i am having problems with the execution of it

This is a somewhat crappy gi firemans carry. It needs to be a lot tighter and faster. But it should give you the idea of a judo fireman's carry with the gi, performed when I was a green belt (judo):

<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/YFZArmzFSQk"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/YFZArmzFSQk" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

In the example the left hand should pull HARDER and then be tighter, really tucked in to the body.

The right hand should be up higher and tighter also, like a wrestlers high crotch.

Toto provided a bunch of good still images of this style of kata guruma earlier in the thread.

The set up I like, and started doing after seeing it work in tournaments, is to work grips until I have a one on one sleeve grip with my opponent. Attacking immediately is important, because once you've established a one on one grip, you're opponent see's all the same opportunites that you do. So beat them to the throw.

In judo this throw is commonly and almost always refered to as Kata Guruma, but the Kodokan defines it as a Yoko Otoshi.

Neck Crank From Hell

ive never seen anyone do this but me, though im sure others have seen it. heres goes.

1. You are mounted.
2. Get their right arm across and put your right forearm underneath their neck, as if going for an arm triangle.
3. Your opponent rolls to their left, so they are on their left side. This takes the pressure off the neck for an arm triangle. Your forearm will slip to the side of their neck, do not pull it out.
4. Now grab your left bicep with your right hand and put your leff hand on the back of your head. Put your forehead on the side of their head. Now squeeze; your head forces their neck down and your forearm forces their neck up. Everyone tells me it hurts like hell, I've never had it done to me.

It is easily applied from when they are on their side and you're mounted (side mount?), but i figured the arm triangle would be good to imagine. I don't have pictures at the moment.
