Because the lack of coverage directly lead to his death via inferior treatment leading to an opiod addiction after he directly saved not only the promotion but the sport from bankrupting?
Do you even think about what you're saying before you say it?

I actually thought it out very well. Doesn't change the fact that the dude was gone from the company form organization for over a decade and made his own decisions what to do with the rest of his professional life and personal life.

I think you can make a great argument for the athletes actually competing today that are actually signed to the organization. And definitely needs to be discussed.

But this example I just don't see how the fuck it's the UFC's problem.

Btw it was Ken and Tito that saved the ufc

It's unfortunate that the ufc never made enough money to pay Bonner 80k/year to do promo stuff and meet and greet stuff with the fans. Maybe do commentary on a few fights, coach some tuff kids, recruit talent, etc.

Its not like they didn't want to. He kind of made moves that put him at odds w ufc.

People like that are just looking for a reason to hate on the UFC, he tells you to think it out but clearly he didn't think it out himself. What people do and continue to do with their personal life after being released from the UFC or any employer for that matter is entirely up to the individual and they should be the one taking accountability. People always needs someone to blame. It's victimhood.

Perhaps they are responding to some of the criticism coming their way regarding this.

It's possible, but when is the last time the UFC made any moves to appease/quell criticism?

If that is the case here it may be a first, another honor for Bonnar

I am not a Bonnar fan. However, I hope someone in the media also notes that -

Bonnar had almost twice the number of UFC fights that Rumble had
Bonnar was fighting in the UFC for about 7 years as opposed to Rumble's 3 years
Bonnar was a WEC commentator of note
Bonnar, most importantly, was 50% the face of TUF 1 w/a seminal final fight that many state saved the company

Also, Dead at 45 for "presumed heart complications" - WTF!!??
With the UFC needing to replace the main event at UFC 153, they turned to Bonnar and Anderson Silva to fill the spot left empty by injuries. The two UFC vets squared off in a Light Heavyweight match October 13, 2012 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Silva won the fight via TKO. Bonnar tested positive for anabolic steroids after the fight (Drostanolone).[20] After his loss to Silva it was announced on October 30, 2012 by UFC president Dana White that Bonnar had retired from MMA competition.[21]

UFC Hall of Fame[edit]
Shortly after the announcement of Forrest Griffin's retirement, Dana White announced that Bonnar and Griffin would be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame. Bonnar and Griffin were officially inducted on July 6, 2013.[22]

Bellator MMA[edit]
On August 27, 2014, Bellator announced they had signed Bonnar to a multi-fight deal, seemingly coming out of retirement.[23] Bonnar faced Tito Ortiz on November 15, 2014 at Bellator 131 and lost via split decision.

To hear Bonnar tell it,he decided to impulsivley go to Bellator for that Tito fight, which effectivley ended any contact between him and the UFC. Im sure if Forrest decided to come out of retirement right now and fight for Bellator, the same would happen.

Some of the things, like the Mike Goldberg stuff, they cant do really fix,but this, they can.

The UFC no doubt benefitted quite a bit from having Bonnar around and yeah, I think it's more likely than not substance abuse of various sources played part in his "heart complications" at 45 - poor Rumble just had some bizzare, rare autoimmune disorder and cancer (gone at 38).

Bonner is half the reason the UFC is where it is today, him and Griffin are the reason why after their epic slugfest which promoted the UFC to the masses

The UFC need to build a statue of Bonnar acknowledging this

Man, I wish I could be there. He arguably single handedly saved the UFC with that fight with Forrest live on Spike. One of my favorite fights of all times.

He's probably the reason the fan base has grown where it has today because of that one fight. Bless you Stephan B and everything you have done for this sport.

I haven’t seen a cause of death, but a month or so before he died he did a podcast interview about having a severe staphylococcus infection in his spine? I believe. He said his doctor was worried about it getting to his heart and killing him.

This interview was after the infamous video of him being thrown out of the hospital that thought he was seeking opioids. He was actually seeking treatment. The staph diagnosis happened later that day at a different hospital that took his claim seriously.

Bonnar had coverage what are you talking about? He had a physician he was seeing.

Why do people assume he was broke? The guy was struggling with substance abuse and mental health issues.

Bonnar and Forrest’s fight is what got them a deal with spike. Dana and the Fertitas were about to fold after investing and losing millions

Agreed with all that.

He chose to leave them. I think he def regretted that, and some of the other moves he made.

They should have a memorial video where it’s just a compilation of his schizoid Instagram ramblings from the last couple years.
