Feel kinda meh about the stoppage but I think its fine in context. That was like the Great Value version of what Rockhold did to him. He seems like he really, really wants it but his body just isn't up for it any more. Happens to us all at some point.

Also, Weidman's fight IQ has never been among his greatest strengths, imo. Big fan of the Chris but if he called it a day, I'd probably be pretty relieved.

Why? Nothing big was getting through, and even the shots that resulted in the stoppage weren't that big. It was the correct time to stop it due to accumulation of shots.


If anything Weidmans corner who know him best should have thrown in the towel when they seen he was gassed and helpless

Having your hands over your head, eating punches to your forearms, hands and face, while your head bobbles around like a crash dummy when hit clean for 120 seconds isn't advisable. Do more or risk a stoppage. Smith is shit, but that stoppage is on the Chris.
