How one's body responds to weight cuts does not = sizeKhabib was near death on a couple of his cuts to 155. Lots speculated that he missed weight against Gaethje too. He's already pretty close to Conor's weight without a bunch of non functional bodybuilding training.
Show mucles =/= performance. Might be good for aesthetics but having a small waist like that seems to equal a weaker core. It was like Leon vs Belal too, Leon may have looked bigger cause of show muscles but when push came to shove Belal ragdolled him.
Look at freakin Rumble or Alex Pereira.
They could move up and down multiple weight divisions easily because of their genetics.
Some guys can't hold on to muscle as well as others and diet down without nearly dying. It's partiallly a genetic attribute, weight cutting techniques (as well as other performance enhancing attributes in some cases)
Pimblett can balloon to a whale and cut it off in record time and then put it back on.
There is a genetic component to this that is being overlooked.
Conor looked more jacked in their fight at LW also weight cutting exists for a reason. All muscle is functional which is why guys try to get down to sub 10% level body fat to give them an advantage when they cut.You are comparing Conor roided well after the actual time they faced each other in the cage. Muscle mass can be added but only so much can be dropped. Anthony Johnson was able to make WW and also fought at HW. He was the same size guy just added muscle mass. If Khabib wanted to bulk up he could be bigger then Conor but he doesn't need to add "Vanity Muscles" he always looked for functional muscle strength.
Khabib is 5'10" with a 70" reach
Conor is 5'8" with a 74" reach
Conor had some physical advantages in his career but most of his advantages were speed and size at FW. Khabib was stonger in the one area Conor was weakest, Grappling. There were pretty much the same size
Conor was carrying more muscle mass when they met in the cage and also Khabib outstruck him.
