Trump-Ukraine Megathread V8

Ukraine is a corruption hellhole taken over by Russophobic nationalists (a vale used to blind people from them stealing military budget funds).

Trump obviously couldn’t care less about Ukraine but let’s not pretend it’s a democracy under siege.

The only person making that sort of claim is Trump and his defenders. Not one person here has been saying anything else, hell most have said Hunter getting paid like that is swampy.

Not positive, but supposedly this is Bill Taylor’s statement. If true, this is the most damning thing so far. Everybody should feel uncomfortable with this.

“During that phone call Ambassador Sondland told me that President Trump had told him that he wants President Zelensky to state publicly that Ukraine will investigate Burisma and alleged Urkainian interference in the 2016 US election.“

“In fact, Sondland said ‘everything’ was dependent on such an announcement, including security assistance.”

“Ambassador Sondland tried to explain to me that President Trump is a businessman. When a businessman is about to sign a check to someone who owes him something, he said, the businessman asks that person to pay up before signing the check.”

Quid. Pro. Quo.

<{Joewithit}>

The entire Trump base is anarchy lol. He's getting thrown out of office by the Senate lol. That's gonna be great lol.

Oh...lol.
Well, he won’t. How do you react when none of this happens ?

Plot twist:

The Quid Pro Quo was but a drop in the bucket.

The real abuse of power was in setting up a kernel rouge government to carry out his personal biddings.

The sweetest part of it all....fuckin' imagine if Obama had done this.

Some choice notes:

"By mid-July it was becoming clear to me that the meeting President Zelensky wanted was conditioned on the investigations of Burisma and alleged Ukrainian interference in the 2016 U.S. elections. It was also clear that this condition was driven by the irregular policy channel I had come to understand was guided by Mr. Giuliani."

And later:

"Ambassador Sondland also told me that he now recognized that he had made a mistake by earlier telling the Ukrainian officials to whom he spoke that a White House meeting with President Zelensky was dependent on a public announcement of investigations — in fact, Ambassador Sondland said, “everything” was dependent on such an announcement, including security assistance. He said that President Trump wanted President Zelensky “in a public box” by making a public statement about ordering such investigations."

Remember, a gentleman always asks...

"Before these text messages, during our call on September 8, Ambassador Sondland tried to explain to me that President Trump is a businessman. When a businessman is about to sign a check to someone who owes him something, he said, the businessman asks that person to pay up before signing the check. "

It's not a phobia when unmarked armed personnel enter your cities and oversee a vote to annex territory to Russia. It's reality.

Believe me they're no angels. You think our country's so innocent? There were good people on both sides...

Trump claim brings new pain to relatives of lynching victims

just seen this headline on apnews, jesus fucking christ....are we going to rake everyone over the coals if they say a word related to a crime someone else experienced? I get that he's the president but if you can't even handle a word without having flashbacks to your relatives getting lynched maybe it's time you went dark and stopped being part of society. It was just hyperbole but now they are lynching the guy for saying he was being lynched. I got raped on PUBG and mentioned it on my twitter, now I'm hoping no one spots it and starts verbally raping me while having flashbacks to when their relatives were raped.

The contextual differences between you whinging on Twitter and the President doing so in speaking about a legal investigation into him and his administration could not be more stark.

Well I guess his efforts to distract work on some people.

don't care, I think people are getting their panties in a bunch over something minor and now the press are hounding the relatives of lynch victims to create a news story. Using lynching in a sentence is not an actual act of violence, perhaps the outraged people should focus on helping those relatives if they care so much about them instead of just using it to condemn Trump. It's worth a discussion no doubt about that, but it doesn't require these kinds of headlines. How can anybody read the news (or watch it) and not be reminded about acts of racism? it's a daily topic and not one that Trump is solely responsible for.

'We did withhold aid, but they did not know it'

They have to get this guy in open testimony asap. This needs to be heard before it becomes drowned in other news and loses impact.

You can't think like that. If this one man's testimony is all they have it's a shaky case. His fervent personal desire for aid to go the Ukraine undermines his credibility. He is up against over half a dozen more senior diplomats and administration officials who have testified there was a clear cut indication from the President there was no quid pro quo.

This man's testimony only matters if it is the first of many to come. Think like Watergate. It's an 18 month haul, and every day, something new and worse came out until it reached a point that even the most loyal party supporters who were in the dark that stayed behind Nixon (like H.W.) eventually abandoned him, and called on his resignation, too.

It was also increasingly clear to all that Trump was likely going to screw the Ukrainians regardless. He was demanding the 'announcement FIRST', because he was not going to give them the aid after due to his allegiance to the Russians.
