Economy Trump puts a tariff on foreign movies

Like all other industries. No details on how these will manifest nor who will pay the price, or what it even means.

Meanwhile in related news, his son and law and the Saudis have bought EA for 55 billions dollars. Presumably to make games great(American) again?
55 billion? Who decided it was worth that much? Seems ridiculous.
This is just a tax on studios, who will pass the cost onto consumers, so when your streaming subscription or cinema ticket jumps in price you can blame trump..

I couldn't even name a single movie that's in theaters currently. It's all crap these days.

you WILL watch marvelslop and DCslop and you WILL like it because its American

The industry will just transfer the footage to digital media . You can’t tarriff digital media LEGALLY, but like clockwork I’m sure it’ll be another law he attempts to break .

The end result here anyway would be just disruption of the industry and many films need to be out of the U.S on certain locations to actually put a full movie together that the U.S cannot supply a certain criteria of a script .

More winning by the Maga cult with higher prices for the consumers. Lol

Since the overwhelming majority of that show was filmed on studio sets, that makes sense. Feature films that have scenes outdoors in everyday America is a different thing. Like Rumble in the Bronx for example. They're supposed to be in NYC, but you can see mountains in the background in certain scenes.
Production goes to where it’s easier to shoot available locations ( if you know how the movie business works you know a city like NY is not only costly to shut down but to also get available slots ) what Trump is again doing is forcing entire films to not be shot in the United States the film industry will just take a hike and do even cheaper films elsewhere . Studios already have great relationships outside the U.S .

Did you know Seinfeld was shot in LA? I only recently found this out. I been watching that show since the 90's and never knew it wasn't filmed in NYC.
If you were from N.Y it was very obvious the show wasn’t filmed in NY ,it was way to commercial and off looking . I actually knew the real Kramer based character he lived in my building Manhattan Plaza bc my cousin knew him but only met him a handful of times in the mid 90”s . Funny I never watched that show until the 2000”s though .

They will use the greenscreen way more

Guess what's easier than outsourcing filming...outsourcing effects.

Most people dont realize these films are funded and produced in multiple countries.

Obviously huge franchises like Star Wars, Harry Potter, Lord in the Rings, Game of Thrones are shot in multiple countries, scored in multiple countries and the VFX and post production done everywhere.

This idea is one of his more ludicrous ones for sure

Trump had shown that he is not that cunning in business & economic fields.

Relying on taxes, taxes, taxing, high tax regime, always the same gambit.

Taxes are not an economy, taxes leech the blood of the economy. Tarrifs and taxes, can be removed, added, and modified, for tailored results, and they can be used to pressure countries or work as leverages in negotiations, taxes can be very versatile when colliding to the outside, with others countries.

But to the inside, economy is more about mutual gain than lonely gain, Trump is missing that, economy in the age of globalization is about bridges and not walls.

You cannot build walls, simply because you have competitors, and people worldwide will avoid you if you over taxes them, because in others place, they will not be over taxed.

The US is number one in movie, Hollywood is a king of soft power from a geopolitical perspective but I do not see any good thing comming out of it.

Same as selling a burger for 100 dollars rather than 10, you only make a lot of money on paper, not in reality, since people will buy burgers from your competitors, you are just making yourself less attractive/competitive, in reality, you are the one losing money by over increasing your tarrifs.
