Crime Trump escalates crime rhetoric ahead of Washington crackdown announcement

The reality is that the safest cities here all have something in common while the most dangerous cities also all have something in common. And it's not red or blue.
One day, and it's coming fast, we're not going have to be so coy about acknowledging that reality...

Out of all the social media sites, Reddit is the one I would LOVE to see her appropriated by a conservative billionaire and made into a right wing echo chamber the most.

That place is absolute septic tank.

Do you spend a lot of time there? I don't spend any time there and rarely click Reddit links.

And it really sucks that you would LOVE to see any social media site turned into yet another right wing echo chamber.

I love Reddit but the r/politics sub is a 99% democrat echo chamber. Daily Beast and Mother Jones are on the "moderate" list for sources.

I do for non-political stuff, but every subreddit has a a hard left bias.

And I was being facetious. More accurate to say that I would LOVE for it to be broken apart. I won't deny though that seeing it get the twitter treatment would make me chuckle.

Did you think Twitter had a left wing bias?

I was there for years and had plenty of conservatives bomb me with their thousands of followers when arguments got heated.

I suspect that conservatives think any site where they don't hold ALL the power is too biased.

I think it's more that left wingers are either being dishonest or completely oblivious to how bad it really is and simply pass off their echo chambers as a more balanced arena.

I never used Twitter, but if it was anything like Reddit, than it was horrible. People get banned for the dumbest things on Reddit and you can almost guarantee that certain conservative opinions, even the ones that aren't overly inflammatory, will get you the boot.

Example: literally today there was a video of Northern Irish fans mocking a Palestinian related protest march.

I got banned for saying "good". The mod auto message said I could inquire or appeal by messaging back, and when I asked why I was banned you know what they did? They muted me for a month.

Wanna know what a balanced discussion board looks like? The war room.

Lol at thinking the War Room is balanced partisanwise, or in any way representative of American politics. Jesus.

It ain't even close to demographically representative.

Can you believe there are posters here who actually post r/politics threads on here as sources for information?

The day when dozens of sexually abused woman where speaking at the steps of the white house Kayla Harrison was being used as a prop by Trump to show him giving her the treatment. You say a prop well she was sexually abused as a child by a predator and it was so bad it was her motivation to move out of Ohio to a new school. But here she is with Jimmy Pedro Sr. who I have met with one of his coaches he was at the white house with Dana White. It was unfortunate that she was there but Jimmy son was not that was interesting. Hey Dana slap any women lately?

I love the statue of Lincoln with his head down like in disgrace.

EDIT: I forgot to add her and her mom are very close she was not there ether and she runs a foundation to protect children from predators. It would make things complicated for her and her foundation in Ohio going to this thing.

Who's even talking about American politics, stats boy?

All of those cities have Democrat mayors, city councils, and DA offices. Thats the common denominator. Among another obvious common denominator.

It’s not about the state. The narrative would mostly stay the same if Trump decided to go to St Louis first. “Trump targeting Democrat run cities with predominantly black leadership”

But St Louis, for all their crime, don’t put up the kinda weekends that Chicago routinely does.

They also have state governors doing some small things to help rein them in. Like the Republican AG moving(successfully) to get Soros DA Kim Gardner removed. So it helps when the state leadership doesn’t act proud of their shitholes and St Louis mayor last I checked atleast pretends to care about curbing crime in the city.

Whereas Pritzker gives “part and parcel” hand waves and Johnson acts like everything is as it should be

Yes we have all seen that dumbass logic. Now explain why Trump is setting his sights on a city fairly far down the list of most cities.

Hint: I already explained it.

Apparently that's when feelings trump facts.
Its almost as though decades of victim mentality and 0 accountability are having some sort of negative effect.....

Because those are the cities making headlines world wide.

I obviously completely disagree about Twitter. Even if it leaned left, conservatives had millions of followers there and were free to play by the rules. I know this because I argued with conservatives there the same way I do here, and it was a hell of a lot more challenging there. Twitter had a lot more people, and in that mix there were MUCH smarter people, left and right.

@Confucamus repeatedly saying Twitter is more "inclusive" now that it unbanned neo Nazis and hate mongers and indiscriminately banned any liberal journalists Catturd didn't like is both ridiculous and ghoulish. I had a Twitter account for a very long time and Elon wrecked the site. Demolished it. Politics aside, every one of his mechanical changes has damaged the user experience, and I never go there any more.

From what I understand about the Reddit upvote system (admittedly not very much) is that if the site leans one way, certain topics will become very prominent and others will be buried. That sounds like a bad model. I don't think I'd like only seeing the posts only the majority likes.

I objected to your desire to see a site you don't like burned to the ground. I obviously don't have any desire to go to Truth or Rumble, but have never said they should be crushed. Twitter was NEVER as much of an echo chamber as those places.

So we going with feelings and vibes over stats and facts?

Again because you know even that’s not the real reason.

Im not speaking to Twitter, but Reddit. As I've heard it for Twitter though, the experience was similar to Reddit where conservative voices were being suppressed by those rules you mentioned before, which favoured leftists and punished rightists. Not saying that's the truth for Twitter, but that's what I heard at the height of those charges.

Reddit is another monster entirely. It's not just the "model" or that the"majority" likes it, that's the misconception, although it is a bad model. The moderators on Reddit are basement dwelling ideologues who will ban you the moment your opinion runs contrary to the left wing perspective or for holding certain views. Those views are also not things that aren't inline with the rules either, half the time they don't even explain why you're being banned. No warnings either, just "you've been permanently banned from r/cooking for breaking our rules." No explanation, no warnings, no points given like we do here, just banned.

The reason why I would love to see it turned into an echo chamber or to be completely crushed is because there's a lot of this right here, what you're currently doing where it's like playing hide and go seek with the reality. While I understand twitter is something you have experience with and I don't, I have a feeling you would probably say the same thing about Reddit if you were a regular user over there.

But I assure you, it's not the model, as shit as it is, it's the lefties that run the place. Yes, I would LOVE to watch their online haven be absolutely dismantled.

EDIT: feel free to respond here if you'd like, but I'll continue this myself in the lounge if you'd like to carry on there. Don't want to derail the thread with this.

I think it is. DC made (international) headlines. Trump sent troops there. Chicago made headlines, (60 shootings in one weekend) he's sending troops there.

On a semi related point- I'm really not understanding the opposition to sending in the guard to clean up these areas that have topped the most dangerous lists for decades. Have we really become this used to violence just being the way it is in these cities?

American politics is the majority of what's discussed on this board.

Either way, it sure ain't representative of Western or global politics either.
