Social Trump cuts tax payer funding to Democrat Institutions NPR and PBS

Can't have a free press in a fascist environment. Plus, where is that $300million for trumps golf tournaments gonna come from?

Still, they'll survive until the next congress comes in and actually takes back the power of the purse from republican toadies. So not as much of a win as the incels think it is.

lol... Free Press? They're fucking far left activist opinion writers being paid with tax payer money. There's zero non-partisan reporting. NPR's news team was 70+ progressives, zero conservatives.

They're more than welcome to earn ad money by bringing in viewers... You know. Like every other "news" outlet.

lol... Oh? They can't survive without tax payer money? Too fucking bad, fuck em.

I like NPR.

Therefore, I buy the stuff they get funding from. Just like all other media that sells ad space.

Car companies, tech companies, beer companies, movie studios.

Just because they are narrated by Terry Gross doesn't mean their ads for Subaru isn't an advertisement.

But, hey, cutting government funding probably means I'll have to hear Draft Kings being mentioned by Ari Shapiro

PBS is a publicly funded nonprofit organization and the most prominent provider of educational programs to public television stations in the United States, distributing shows such as Frontline, Nova, PBS News Hour, Masterpiece, Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, Sesame Street, This Old House and American Experience. Certain stations also provide spillover service to Canada.

Funding for NPR comes from dues and fees paid by member stations, underwriting from corporate sponsors, and annual grants from the publicly funded Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Most of its member stations are owned by non-profit organizations, including public school districts, colleges, and universities. NPR operates independently of any government or corporation, and has full control of its content

Just more WOKE, commie science and education

burn it down!

Blame NPR and PBS for becoming partisan far left activist shit holes.

I'm sure they'll still get plenty of funding from private sources. Then they can program their messages anyway they want. Just without tax payer money. I mean... there's plenty of viewers right? They're not shedding viewers with their garbage anti-conservative messaging like CNN and MSNBC?

Freaking orange Hitler , he needs to focus on stopping the planes that are trying to kill people by falling.

Not PBS

As opposed to privately funded, you peasant?

Both NPR and PBS are leaps and bounds more reliable than any of the dumb shit you source. Now stop posting and go do some push-ups.
Holy jesus....
Government funded news sources wont be biased at all, no way, not this time.

Isnt NPR just a slew of chiron statements and tag lines?

What I want to know is why it’s so difficult to have them not included in the budget.

This will get overturned because I think Trump himself just signed something that approves more money for them(I heard, don’t know for sure. Might be the short term deal). About a week before the hearings that brought the topic up again.

No partisan outlet should enjoy tax dollars. Especially as they consistently brag how the tax dollars are a mere drop in the bucket for their overall endowment.

If you’re going to have a government funded news group it needs to be boring straight news without even a hint of editorializing or lies by omission.

NPR can’t be unbiased because their listeners are overwhelmingly white urbanist liberals so anything that hints of neutrality or a conservative viewpoint threatens their real bottom line. The fact that their private funding is more important than their federal funding and it’s dependent on progressivism, one should have to go.

Says the guy who's entire new source is cut-and-paste jobs from twitter.

But I'd slow the circle jerk their champ. As PBS pointed out in their lawsuit, trump's move is clearly unconstitutional as it violates law passed by Congress establishing the network. So he won't get a chance to cut any funding and they'll continue to operate as usual once the house takes back control of the purse.

... and no Independent ones either... right? Only Democrats.

🤡
Any legitimate right-wing news commentators that I've listened to despise Trump and realize that he's a despicable human being bent on wrecking the country.

The rest are cult members fully caught up in the zeal of the cult.

Don't fool yourself an organization as serious as NPR that did have Republicans on it wouldn't be supporting Trump.

I engaged with you despite your open admissions of bad faith on more than one occasion.

You are the one that runs away to your sacrosanct, self-serving pedestal of supporting "evil" despite the erroneous and haphazard claims of it being "lesser" yet somehow you expect others to engage you with any modicum of good faith as you project your deceptive bs towards me.

Once again you are an admittedly bad faith poster who supports a choice of "evil" gfy asshole.
Why be be a liar man? Just discuss things honestly I've never said 'm a bad faith poster... What are you talking about? Was I kidding or something? I've never said that in any serious way.

And yeah man Trump is objectively worse in every single metric than any other candidate on the field Republican or Democrat.

There's just no question about that unless you're in a cult and don't want to deal with facts.

NPR is garbage and i have no sympathy for them being defunded. complete Democrat mouthpiece. as someone else mentioned, they ran cover for Hillary by attacking Bernie, Yang, Tulsi, and a whole bunch of other candidates that didnt fit what the DNC thought a Democrat should be.

PBS' news is more balanced and their regular programming (shout out to the person who posted Antique Roadshow!) is generally pretty cool. i think they can be salvaged. i dont see why they cant just be run by viewer donations and advertising revenue. maybe slash the salaries of the higher ups to make up the budget.

Hey, just for perspectives sake for all you Republicans out there... the parade that Trump wants to throw for himself, the military parade, the dictator parade... that's going to cost $92 million. That's more money than the government gives NPR in a year.

no republican voices in a publicly funded media institution?
that's not fair. sounds like institutional capture.

87 Democrats
0 Independents
0 Republicans

There's no justification.

I agree with that much actually if you missed my first post. NPR has some serious problems. Mostly they're just all a bunch of fart sniffers high on their own juice.

What I'm saying is if you get any Republicans that are sophisticated and intelligent enough to be on NPR. They're not going to be Trump supporters.

I only knew about British shows like Doctor Who was through the PBS.

NPR had some interesting music
Was going to post this,

Growing up for me it was Sesame Street/ vaguely Mr. Rogers re-runs, then Reading Rainbow later Dr. Who and BBC, later Nova Science. Some fond TV memories.

At this risk of being inflammatory all those shows are totally contrary to the ideals and values of the current administration and its maga supporters

Which is fucking sad frankly.

Science, education understanding and compassion are now somehow, "da libs"

At that point wouldn't they just be cable basically and ran by whomever gives them the most money? I wonder if they did that would they just become The Learning Channel (TLC) where we used to actually teach you things but now here is another episode of 90 Day Fiancé and Sister Wives.
