Social Trump cuts tax payer funding to Democrat Institutions NPR and PBS

You are such a fucking hack. Frontline has consistently brought amazing non-partisian content for decades.

If they are so good, then they can survive on their own. Good content always prevails. I used to watch Frontline years ago, but many shows (example 60 Minutes) that were solid have turned to crap. I am not sure about Frontline... they may still be solid?

I don't disagree with this, calling them everything on PBS some liberal sounding board is wrong, as evidenced by this show. Yes, they are still solid IMO.

Maybe they should bring back Reading Rainbow, sherdog could benefit all around. Would be a good use of government funds.

I always knew Elmo was a Communist. I can't wait for the executive order that demands Sesame Street create a character that praises Trump on every episode if they want to keep their federal funding.

didn't one of the PBS CEOs bend the knee to cheeto benito? wonder how she's feeling.
Bending the knee to Trump is gross. Puts you nose level to his poop filled diaper. Biden was a soft spoken forgetful old man and Trump is an angry yelling lies old man. Dementia usually takes one of those 2 forms.

So crap in your eyes is anything that criticizes Trump. That has always been Trumps MO. If this critical of him then it’s fake. It’s pretty apparent you have bought in to that rationale. You guys can’t even criticize Don Jr’s Executive Club which is where CEO’s pay Don Jr 500k for access to his father.

Fvck that guy for teaching me about empathy and shit!

<PlusJuan>

Mr Rogers is symbol for PBS

He couldnt be more antithetical to trump as a human being, if he came out now with his teaching of empathy and compassion, he'd be besmirched 'da woke libtard'

Def not all republicans, maybe even not all maga people, but for a significant percentage (probably most on here), are just shitty people who appall principles of decency.

President Trump signed an executive order late Thursday night terminating federal funding for National Public Radio (NPR) and the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS).

....

“Government funding of news media in this environment is not only outdated and unnecessary but corrosive to the appearance of journalistic independence,” Trump wrote in the order.

“The CPB Board shall cease direct funding to NPR and PBS, consistent with my Administration’s policy to ensure that Federal funding does not support biased and partisan news coverage,” he added. “The CPB Board shall cancel existing direct funding to the maximum extent allowed by law and shall decline to provide future funding.”

Let's face it. This was LONG over due. PBS is nothing more than a Democratic Party propaganda outlet.

Not a single Republican. Not 1. That's ridiculous.
Isn't this encroaching on Congress' power of the purse? Can he really unilaterally cancel funds that were appropriated by Congress?

God damn people in here are so fucking stupid lol. Imagine thinking public broadcasting and NPR are the problem, not Trump and everything he's doing. Legit mental problems. NPR is speaking out about all the bigoted people in the white house and those linked to them, that's why they want it gone.
Our leader can sell sneakers, beans from the white house, jpegs of himself, fucking crypto scams and hook up his billionaire buddies

but non- profit sources for education are, a problem

This is where we are as society

There... that is a fair and good question.

I think a lot of what Trump is doing is trying to lead the Congress to do the things it should have done long ago and codify it. Trump's move gets big support from the populace and that gives Congress the cover those cowards need to do something.

I'm not sure about the funding mechanism, laws passed, etc. that grants NPR / PBS the $, but I do know... they should in no way get it anymore. They can sink or swim or go away. They push too much bullshit that's either heavily Democrat / Left bias or just whack job shit. I am sure there are good parts of NPR and PBS. IF they do it right and lose their bullshit, they will do fine... if they continue, they can be like CNN and the rest of the MSM that very few trust or take seriously.

It's that really the case though? He has both houses of Congress and yet is legislating almost entirely through executive orders. He could be far more productive in terms of legislative output but seems reluctant to engage with Congress.

I think more likely is that Trump wants to grab a much power as possible and is willing to encroach on the perogatives of the other two branches, almost daring them to push back. The judiciary still has some fight left but Congressional Republicans have completely rolled over so even if Trump is encroaching on the power of the purse I don't expect a GOP Congress to assert it's constitutional authority.

This is obviously what is happening. Trump has no interest in governing because it isn't easy. Making EO's to Trump is like hitting a crack pipe. Instant gratification to a narcissist. I saw today that 40% of project 2025 has been implemented. This is what it is. They knew Trump was too stupid to pull off any nuanced action, so they dumbed it down. What will really bring this to a head is the showdown that will eventually happen with the SCOTUS. Alito and Thomas are totally fine with Trump disregarding the law, but the others have to be getting pissed off that the highest law in the land is being told to go fuck themselves. I am not optimistic.
