Easy win for Tom so that is why he would take it. He needs to sack up and fight Gane. That would be a huge for 300 and help to build his legacy and could force the UFC’s hand a bit when it comes to a fight with Jon Jones

There isn’t a “bigger” fight. Not with the fighters that aren’t injured. I suppose they could have Aspinall/Gane. But Aspinall/Alex is a superfight. Featuring the two heaviest weight classes. It headlines over any other realistically possible fight.

It's lame that the UFC backed themselves into such a corner, but it's still a great fight.

Aspinall will win easily, though, and it's going to be hard work building back better.

Gane is 2-2 in his last 4. And it certainly wouldn't be bigger than a Pereira fight.

Division hopping is becoming an issue while this could be a great fight it is also a lose lose situation. If Aspinal loses to Periera it derails a potential HW great and rising star. If Periera loses it takes a lot away from his stock and can leave a void in the LHW division. Periera has moments of greatness but he already jumped up from MW after the Izzy loss and had a just less than stellar win again Jan. Gane is a HW and a bit of a draw still sadly but even though he is 2-2 he is a big HW that is seen as a force and a win against him keeps the HW division moving and is a fairly decent HW name for Aspinall to add to his list of wins.

No chance Gane has a worse ground game than Alex. What, you don't think Jones would have done the exact same thing to Alex, except probably quicker?
Also, no chance Izzy could take down Gane.

I would be surprised if he did that to Pereira quicker. He would beat Pereira but Gane's ground game got beat out by Ngannou. D1 Ngannou is a myth. Gane's ground game is just poor and it continues to get exposed. Pereira is at least learning and already at a brown belt level.

Jan was able to smother Periera for a good portion of their fight what is a bigger stronger guy like Aspinall going to do to Periera? The added weight will slow Periera even more and he is already a plodding fighter. Aspinall is explosive and athletic big ole boy. Perieras only chance would be a very quick knockout but Tom would get him to the ground before that could happen.

Aspinall is unproven. Bold of you to say that. Poatan has taken out 4 former champions, Aspinall most decorated win is Arlovski and that means nothing these days. People thought Jan would violate Poatan, they thought wrong.
