Law To mask, or unmask. Bill targets ICE agents use of face masks.

You and I both know the asylum system is broken because they don't have enough judges or infrastructure to handle all the claims.

So anyone with an asylum claim ends up staying years and years. On average, it takes 5 years to see an immigration judge for asylum, then there are appeals and all that.

On top of that, many who eventually lose all their asylum appeals and get a final deportation order, STILL stay in the country illegally - 1.4 million with final deportation orders in the country.
Okay so then hire more judges and invest in the infrastructure needed to process these cases.
A lot of them who got a final deportation order end up getting temporary stays on their deportation which they constantly renew. Now that Trump is in office, those with final deportation orders are not getting their stays renewed. That is what's happening with those people picked up at immigration court.

So basically anyone who gets TPS and then simply applies for asylum is in reality just getting defacto residency in the country.
Yeah I'm okay with that as long as they have to regularly check in with immigration authorities who make sure they've been on their best behavior.
Whatever meager taxes they pay will not cover the plethora of government services they end up taktaking
I'm skeptical that's true or if it is there's probably some factors that mitigate or exacerbate that effect.

Here’s my thoughts on this. Let the agents keep their face masks and names off of uniforms, but require them to have a badge number and agency displayed on a uniform or tactical vest.
Agree. This is a common sense solution. Personally I’d like officers ID number to be directly linked to their license as an LEO. From day 1 at the academy until you retire 30 years later I want your ID number to travel with you between departments and positions. Prevent someone from racking up a bunch of charges and reprimands in one city before working for the county and starting with a clean slate

Wait, so you’re claiming that the ICE agents aren’t really ice agents but are instead thugs hired to act like ice agents to meet quotas? And your saying that retaliation is necessary at this point because these “rogue/fake” agents aren’t real agents, so there really is no officer safety issue?

Ok, what does retaliation look like to you? What’s an appropriate response? Let’s say you see rogue agents detaining someone on the side of the parking lot you are walking in-what do you do?
ICE agents are the rogue outfit there would be no need for fake ones though I’m sure that’s going on . If I wanted to commit crimes legally I’d just get a bunch of guys and a van and dress like disguised thugs and kidnap them it’s pretty easy in general to do but now it’s also, legal when you can just dress the part .

What would I do if I saw ICE detaining someone in a parking lot ,well nothing because I wouldn’t be ina parking Lott and if I were it would be out with friends and or family members so I wouldn’t get the, involvement or put myself in harms way for because I’m needed elsewhere and it doesn’t actually do much but put myself in the limelight I can tell you this if anyone of my family members were illegally arrested there would be immediate retaliation,I know ppl to .

At first I was of the view that they should not have masks on. But, after watching the Democrats and their minions push violence, doxxing, and pure hate towards these men and women my opinion has changed. Violent attacks against them is up 70% since the Left started their campaign of hate and rage against them.

If the Democrats succeed in unmasking them, they should all just wear N95 Masks as a giant fuck you. They should have very visible badge numbers.

First off the idea that police should be allowed to wear masks because their job is dangerous is ridiculous. Not even worth considering. Do something else then.

Second, if ice agents are allowed to wear masks it encourages people to impersonate them.

In South Carolina, Sean-Michael Johnson, 33, was charged with kidnapping and impersonating a police officer after allegedly detaining a group of Latino men along a Charleston County road. Johnson is accused of “willfully and unlawfully presenting himself as an ICE Agent and detaining a vehicle of individuals from moving,” according to court records.”

Third, if an ice agent overreaches or kills someone, and is masked, they are much harder to identify and hold accountable. You can’t expect to be in a position of authority, arresting people, using force, while simultaneously having zero accountability. And no, badge numbers are not enough.

I'm not ok with it because if we follow what you want to do, it's a system where literally no one gets deported.

If people have exhausted all legal avenues to stay here and a judge says they have to go but is still allowed to stay here, that will just incentivize the entire third world to continually stream into the country illegally.

You're essentially advocating for a completely open border.

A newly arrived immigrant from these places require us to find them housing, food resources, and medical care. Then after they're a bit more established, some states even give them Medicaid. If they don't have health insurance, they just end up using the emergency room for free.

If they have kids, us taxpayers end up paying for the kids schooling and their whole families also get SNAP food stamps, subsidized housing, and all sorts of government benefits.

All of those things are (obviously) not covered by the number of those illegals that pay taxes. A lot work off the books for cash.

I don't trust ICE agents to display anything, including numbers, that would be trackable. They are a rogue agency. There are already people impersonating them while committing crimes. At this point they must unmask for the safety of the public. The agency itself caused us to be where we are at this moment. This is entirely on them.

No body cams either and militarized. People like to talk about the blowback they get but not WHY they're getting blowback

That would be nearly impossible to have an id that tracks one’s whole career. There are 900k officers, or were before the 2020 riots where officers quit in droves, and it is a revolving door of officers coming and leaving law enforcement, coming back, etc. those numbers would be long and complex and impossible to display. I understand why you would want to do that-to track down serial shitbag cops like Tim Loughman. He was the one that worked for Cleveland and shot tamir rice. He was fired because he left out a previous agency on his resume-one where he failed the field training stage of his probation, but he was not fired for shooting a 12 year old boy. He tried to get on my department and before we hire anyone, we run their names through the command staff. This was 2016 and I just became a lieutenant. I was the only one that knew his name and I advised against hiring him. The chief said he was aware that he was the one that shot tamir rice, but he stated it was ruled a justified shooting and we couldn’t refuse to hire him based upon that incident, so I pointed out that he was fired by Cleveland pd for lying about a former position with a smaller department and we used that as the reason we refused to hire him. He was hired by another local police department and public pressure on the dept led him to resign immediately. He sued us anyway and he lost, but based upon him passing everything but the background check, we would have had to hire him based upon our civil service rules.

This makes no sense to me. Plus, you say it’s time to retaliate but you refuse to do so yourself?

Not no one, troublemakers and criminals who wouldn't get their TPS renewed.

TPS is a legal avenue into the country that I think should be liberally extended so that immigrants can work legally.

There's a lot of assumptions here that I don't accept at face value.

But let's assume those claims are true the best way to get illegals to pay more taxes into the system is to give them work permits which means they're more likely to be taxed and they're more likely to get higher wages.

Yes but you want literally everyone else to be able to stay - including all future people who illegally come in. That is completely ridiculous. Every single EU country is having the same problems with illegals and all you want to do is increase it.

Roosevelt Avenue in Queens NY has become Whore Central due to Venezuelan migrants everywhere. Shit literally looks like Tijuana now.

So basically anyone that gets TPS gets to stay indefinitely and get defacto residency. No thank you.

But a lot of them do already get work permits. They still do not contribute as much as they take out in government services.

The masks are their main concern, though. As I have said, I am all for a badge number and agency on their tac vests or bdu shirts. I am not ok with plain clothes, mask, and no identifying insignia
- Surprised no agent ended shot already

Masked or hooded agents of anything sounds authoritarian, bordering terrorist

Not sure why would support that in a country that prides itself on freedom, liberty and equality like America

It will happen and their defense will be that they thought they or someone else was being kidnapped
- Cant blame the people. In a contrie full of gans and crime, some strange hiting at your door without uniforme or indentification? And i bet thats was planed by the GOP, as a excuse to escalate things even more.

I disagree. I think at this point, people know it’s ICE. It will be an interesting trial

- But being called ICE is pretty badas. They look like foot-soldiers in Power Rangers. Al dresed equal. They even attack inocent people at ramdom.

I think most on this forum would happily shoot any masked individual that broke into their house or tried to accost them in any way. I know many folks here would relish the opportunity to 'help a friend' or neighbor by shooting an an armed masked assailant attacking them. Puzzling that these same people are now baffled by the less than enthusiastic response to masked armed assailants rendering people on US soil.
