Yeah, dude, I know he didn't die. It's a random point because it is literally what you wrote:
Again, Zeus did not die. He got hurt by the Thunderbolt but he didn't die. The weapon was built for him but that does not mean that someone else can't use it to harm him. Your post made me revisit some old mythological websites cause i vaguely remembered a revolt by the Greek gods. A few of them once tied Zeus up and he could not reach his Thunderbolt (or bag of thunderbolts to be precise). The point was mythologically speaking the Thunderbolt is a physical weapon and it's been depicted more like a bag of endless bolts at times.
Just because you can hold Thunderbolt doesn't mean it can't kill you. Thunderbolt is a weapon that was forged by someone else and it can be stolen. Why can it not be used against his rightful owner? It's not the first time someone wrote a movie about it. Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief story is about the Thunderbolt being stolen so the artifact is known to be "steal-able". If someone can hold Thor's hammer do you think they cannot use it to beat the living shit out of Thor and kill him? In the marvel comic books both Hela and Moon Knight used Mjolnir to beat up Thor.
You didn't know the history/myth of Zeus and his Thunderbolt enough and just call it lazy or bad writing but the story makes sense from a mythological standpoint. At least your questions about why Thunderbolt can harm Zeus. I will agree that it doesn't make sense for all the Gods to be so fearful of one Gorr the Butcherer.
The point was that it is ridiculous that Thor or anyone there thought that he could die from it. The whole scene is just poorly written/thought out. As far as all of the characters in the story know, Zeus is dead because Thor killed him with his own thunderbolt.
Which again, is another example of shit writing to kill the king of the gods in front of all the gods when your whole purpose of coming there was to save and recruit them to fight The GOD Butcherer.
And again, it is not that I don't know about the mythology, it's that I don't care about the mythology in relation to this movie, because the movie is clearly not following mythology.
We're talking about the MCU, not Percy or Greek mythology.
In the world that we know, it is silly to think that Zeus could be killed not only by his own weapon that he is the God of, but so easily. He's an elder God like Odin. No one is coming in and one shotting Odin. Why would he even let other gods think that's possible since he didn't really die? The whole thing doesn't make any sense.
As Odin said, Thor is not the god of hammers, and it's already been established that other people can use the hammer. That is entirely different from an element like thunder or lightning. It'd be like drowning Poseidon.
You're defending the logic/writing of a scene that has a naked Thor with an "RIP Loki" tattoo on his back. lol
