It's a random point because it is literally what you wrote:

Again, Zeus did not die. He got hurt by the Thunderbolt but he didn't die. The weapon was built for him but that does not mean that someone else can't use it to harm him. Your post made me revisit some old mythological websites cause i vaguely remembered a revolt by the Greek gods. A few of them once tied Zeus up and he could not reach his Thunderbolt (or bag of thunderbolts to be precise). The point was mythologically speaking the Thunderbolt is a physical weapon and it's been depicted more like a bag of endless bolts at times.

Just because you can hold Thunderbolt doesn't mean it can't kill you. Thunderbolt is a weapon that was forged by someone else and it can be stolen. Why can it not be used against his rightful owner? It's not the first time someone wrote a movie about it. Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief story is about the Thunderbolt being stolen so the artifact is known to be "steal-able". If someone can hold Thor's hammer do you think they cannot use it to beat the living shit out of Thor and kill him? In the marvel comic books both Hela and Moon Knight used Mjolnir to beat up Thor.

You didn't know the history/myth of Zeus and his Thunderbolt enough and just call it lazy or bad writing but the story makes sense from a mythological standpoint. At least your questions about why Thunderbolt can harm Zeus. I will agree that it doesn't make sense for all the Gods to be so fearful of one Gorr the Butcherer.
Yeah, dude, I know he didn't die.
The point was that it is ridiculous that Thor or anyone there thought that he could die from it. The whole scene is just poorly written/thought out. As far as all of the characters in the story know, Zeus is dead because Thor killed him with his own thunderbolt.
Which again, is another example of shit writing to kill the king of the gods in front of all the gods when your whole purpose of coming there was to save and recruit them to fight The GOD Butcherer.
And again, it is not that I don't know about the mythology, it's that I don't care about the mythology in relation to this movie, because the movie is clearly not following mythology.
We're talking about the MCU, not Percy or Greek mythology.

In the world that we know, it is silly to think that Zeus could be killed not only by his own weapon that he is the God of, but so easily. He's an elder God like Odin. No one is coming in and one shotting Odin. Why would he even let other gods think that's possible since he didn't really die? The whole thing doesn't make any sense.
As Odin said, Thor is not the god of hammers, and it's already been established that other people can use the hammer. That is entirely different from an element like thunder or lightning. It'd be like drowning Poseidon.

You're defending the logic/writing of a scene that has a naked Thor with an "RIP Loki" tattoo on his back. lol

As I said, I was responding to your post that said "What did people expect...something something Batman". I didn't see anyone in here making an argument that the movie needed to be super dark, gritty, or anything like Batman, so not sure why you brought that up to begin with.
My complaint was always about the improper balance of humor and pacing. There are other issues with the story, but that's the main issue.
That's what pretty much everyone in here has been saying. Many of the same people that disliked this movie, liked Ragnarok, so the issue isn't a need for a dark, Batman styled movie. It's still Marvel, why would we have expected Batman? You built up a strawman from the get go.

<TrumpWrong1>

How could he give away the power of Zeus? He used the thunderbolt to channel Thor's power, and he literally says the power of Thor. This was also very obvious because it tied into his hammer and his father granting whomever worthy of it the power of Thor.

Why are you trying to make up what Thor did and didn't know? This is something Taika and crew made up, this wasn't something that the Russo brothers were aware of, and it didn't get used in End Game simply because "Thor just didnt know how to do it" In Dr. Strange's 14 billion scenarios, he would've seen a way to get there. It also just doesn't even make any sense that a weapon that was just forged in Infinity War is also the only thing that can open this ancient gate to Eternity.

She is a valkyrie, and "king" of Asgard. What warrior king of Asgard sits out a battle that will end all existence because they have an injury? No, it is not apropos for any hero character, especially in the way they did it. Human girl Jane with CANCER went to the battle even though she knew picking up the hammer again would kill her.

Why are you trying to connect two things that aren't connected? The taser and this device on Sakaar are obviously not the same thing. It can be pretty safe to assume that there is more to the device than it being electric since it's on another planet and it puts blue/black veins on your face. So it can't be simple electricity.
You're going out of your way to try and defend something that's ridiculous. I'm willing to go along with a fantasy show on plenty of things, but : The god of thunder shouldn't be able to be killed by a thunder bolt. That's just dumb.

I didn't say that gods being pricks is shocking or a problem. The issue is is that literally ALL of them didn't care about their potential own demise. At minimum, a god of war would've wanted to fight, or a god of wisdom would've had a different take. lol Did you actually pay attention to the movie? The villain is Gorr the GOD Butcherer. The gods should have a vested interest in not being butchered.

If that's how you feel, cool. I don't have words if you can't see the obvious issues with pacing in this movie. Gorr's parts felt like they were from another movie, and the jokes were rampant, misplaced, and usually unfunny.

lol Just look at the scene from the final fight. We have kids with dolls and ropes skipping around killing monsters, Jane in bed with cancer, and Thor having his final battle with a villain that is on the verge of wiping them all out with a wish. If you think this is fine..then, well, god bless you.

1. Thor lied to the children. The children do not know who Zeus is but they know Thor is the mightiest Asgardian and he lied to give them courage. The biggest tell tell sign is the fact that the color of the lightning on the kids were gold like the Thunderbolt instead of blue. Whether he can pass on his own lightning powers is unknown but the power he gave to those children were from Thunderbolt.

2. But it is true that Thor was not aware that Stormbreaker can reach Eternity. I am not giving your reasons here. It's in the movie. If he's not aware of the method then how can Thor reach Eternity even with 14 billion possibilities? You're saying it doesn't make sense that Stormbreaker can reach Eternity since it was just made but Thor knew exactly what/how to make Stormbreaker the recipe was not a secret. Both he and the blacksmith knew how to make Stormbreaker so its power was legendary already before its making. Maybe it was foretold. A lot of that happens with Gods and myths.

3. This a movie about Thor and Jane. Not Valkyrie. She could be the gods of all gods and it wouldn't have been appropriate for her to be there in the final battle.

4. No my point was that the God of Thunder was easily taken down and out by these devices in Ragnarok way too easily. It was for cheap laughs and it worked. But it didn't make sense to me that Thor could be taken down easily with a net, or with a tiny little gadget. But I didn't mind that illogical shit so why would I mind the illogical shit in this movie?

5. But all the gods did care and that's why they felt safe hiding away from it all. Their position was to sit tight and hide. I agree that Marvel MCU made all the other gods to look like pussies and they will have to address it eventually but it explains the "absentee landlord" status of most of these gods. I didn't have that big of problem with it. I am sure Hercules wanted to fight but I guess he had to obey Zeus and sit tight.

6. Again you thought it was too busy and the pacing was all wrong but I was okay with it. You have to realize that this movie isn't just for you. It's for fans of all ages and Marvel was clearly targeting the youngest of all fans. I understand i and I was okay with it. If you weren't that's fine too. We do not have to agree on how good this (or any) movie was. But Ragnarok was whimsically funny given the themes it had and this movie did the exact same thing but just not as polished. Can't win 'em but it was enjoyable enough to me.

So you were a writer for the movie now.
HE LITERALLY says the power of Thor....but...you say, "he lied". lmao, Okay, dude.

And now we're back to "maybe this.../fan fiction writing, instead of looking at what actually has happened in the movies.

Is the movie about Asgardian kids? How'd they make it to the final battle? Who made the rule that only the people that are in the title of the movie can be in the final scene of the movie?

4, 5, 6,...I just can't.
Again, as I said, if you liked the movie, cool. I'm not trying to change your opinion. I'm not calling you names because you enjoyed it. If you enjoyed it, more power to you. I'm not downing on people for liking something that I didn't like.
I only replied to your post because you were strawmanning what the criticism of this movie was about.
lol and now you are making absolutely ridiculous defenses of some indefensible stuff, so there's just no need to go in circles.

Again you are assuming Zeus didn't just let himself be defeated or hold back.

The deleted scenes may be suggesting this:

Why they didn't leave these scenes in I do not know. It would also suggest that Zeus taught the trick to imbue the lightning power to others.

As I stated your logic does not make sense. Thunderbolt theoretically can hurt/kill Zeus. There is no established rules saying someone cannot steal the weapon and use it against Zeus.

You can not use a deleted scene to explain what you think might have happened in a finished movie.
As the movie stands, what happened, doesn't make sense. There is no logical reason for Zeus to want everyone to think he can be defeated in his own kingdom in the middle of a celebration.
Why would I assume he LET himself get killed/attempted killed?
Did you forget the scene with Hercules at the end that proves that it wasn't intentional ?

Are you watching what actually happened??? Watch the video again and tell me what color of lightning is surrounding the children. What Thor says and what he actually did are two different things. The power that was given to the children were not Thor's but the power of the Thunderbolt. Thor's lighting is always blue regardless of whether he wields Mjolnir or Stormbreaker. It isn't hard to put it together. You simply are too stubborn to admit this. Honestly I thought you were a more logical person and yet you failed to see this. It's not even just me. The deleted scene suggest this and most websites/wikipedia is writing it as such. Asking me whether i am a writer is asinine. Are you one? If not then how you do know the kids received Thor's power when the lightning around them is gold, the same color as Thunderbolt???

You're being argumentative about silly things because you didn't like the movie. Why are kids in the final fight but not Valkyrie? Why blah blah blah. Okay. That's okay to not like it. But there was nothing illogical or too outstretched about it. Especially considering the whimsical nonsense that was also in Ragnarok.

Really I think the issues are more in the first half of the film, in Ragnarok I think they really nailed the drama around Thor and Loki quite early in the film and then worked the comedy from that but here I didnt really feel they sold Thor and Jane until half way though or more.

You ended up with the first half being mostly whimsical comedy without really having much substance to it beyond Gor's intro. Honestly it did feel like something that had really been editted hard with a preference towards that rather than allowing it to be say 2 1/2 hours long which it probably needed to be.

I was fine with Zeus being an asshole personally, I think it added weight to Gor's view.

Perhaps. What I do know is that Zeus has been portrayed as a has-been God who has lost his touch. Maybe that's why he got caught with his pants down and beaten. All I am saying is that its not completely unexplainable.

Dude, you are making up your own movie, and attaching your own made up reasons for the dumb crap that happened in it.

Why would Thor lie to the kids? There is nothing in the movie that would make that make sense, or even suggest that that happened. He channeled his power through the bolt, and he was holding it.
The movie is also partly about Thor's hammer....the hammer that literally talks about those being worthy of it, will have the power of Thor...and then Thor literally says this line.
Why would he then give the kids "the power of Zeus' in the final battle of the movie? Why would the movie not tell the audience that that is what was happeneing? He literally says "The power of Thor", and you're saying "nah, that was a lie". THAT is asinine.

Taika apparently cut A LOT out of this movie, so , no , it doesn't make any sense to try and use a random deleted scene to bolster your ridiculous theory.
lol Why are literal children with dolls in the final fight and not the KING of Asgard is a silly thing to ask?
If you see these all as just comic book/fantasy movies that don't require any sort of logical consistency, that's fine. You enjoy that movie. But you can't claim to have logic on your side when you're making such horrible arguments.

I am cool with that. Like I said it's not as good as Ragnarok. But is it "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within" trash level? Not to me it isn't. The movie was trashed and I went in expecting the worst but I had a good time and my two other buddies also enjoyed it. So whatever.

I think its in the "flawed but interesting" level personally which I would take over just bland.

Dude take a chill pill. you're the one spazzing out in your responses.

Why do adults lie to children? Plenty of reasons. I gave you one. you simply ignored it. Thor has limited ability to enchant things (like his father) so he used that plus the ability of Thunderbolt. Once again, I ask you.. what is the color of the lightning on the kids and does it match the color from Thor's power or Thunderbolt? The answer is clear.. Thunderbolt. The kids received the power of Thunderbolt. You want to go back to the "Why did Thor lie" BS then okay ~ you're stuck on Thor lying.. lol

You're practically spazzing out about things cause you deep down inside you realized you are wrong.

It's a friggin' comic book movie and you're bitching about kids involved in a fight after receiving the power of lightning. That scene was literally created for little children. I don't have a problem with it. It's not for me (or targeting me) but not every scene in a movie has to be for me.

I'm spazzing out because I'm responding to you and telling you that your arguments are crap? "Deep down i know that im wrong" ? lol, ok, guy. You're trying to psychoanalyze me, but Im the one spazzing out here. Right.
I haven't called you a name or anything in this exchange, and I already told you , if you like the movie, cool, more power to you. There's nothing to "spaz" out about. I don't care if you like the movie. I don't need you to agree with me.

And I surely was not asking you to make up reasons why something happened in a movie that I watched.
If that's what I wanted, I could have done that myself. (and had done a much better job)
In your world, there's no such thing as shitty writing apparently. The all knowing writers always have a reason for whatever they do. Thor's "RIP Loki" tramp stamp tattoo probably also gave him some other super power that I missed.

No one is making shit up.

I was answering your questions. You're the one asking questions in your post and I answered them. You clearly didn't agree with my answers/reasoning and spazzed out. That's on you. All my answers made sense. If you disagree then disagree but you don't have to be a dick about it. You're one the better posters in here so to see you act out like a jerk when all I did was answer your questions about a fuckin' comic book movie is disappointing. It's not THAT serious but apparently its serious enough for you to be upset.

Brotha, I have gone above and beyond to be nice here because I think you're usually a cool guy.
I haven't called you a single name. And I didn't shame you for liking something that I didn't like. You are being overly sensitive here and are now mad because I'm saying your arguments/answers are dumb, and don't match up to what happened in the movie. You're giving me answers from what you think, not from what actually happened in the movie. No offense was meant, but that's worthless to me. "Thor lying to the kids" is something that is completely made up and has no basis.
I'm judging the movie on what I watched, not on what could have been/what SaiWa thinks Taika meant.

I'm not the least bit upset here, and in multiple posts I said we don't need to keep going here because we don't agree, and more power to you for enjoying the film. You're taking my disagreement and questioning your ideas as being a dick, spazzing, or whatever, and I promise you, that couldn't be further from the truth. It really isn't that serious.

I saw the first few minutes of it. It's not too bad so far. It's something new to me and not recycled plot since I was a kid.

Don't give me that passive aggressive BS dude. Did I throw memes at you to put down your points?

My answers were not even remotely close to BS. Your answers arguably were because you reverted to calling it BS.

You can focus on Thor lying or not lying but the power that was given to those kids were not Thor's but Thunderbolt. Maybe he also developed this power just now in this movie saga. Or maybe it is Thor's power but you need Thunderbolt as a conduit. All I know is that Thunderbolt is needed and it answers your question as to why he didn't do it previously. You're hanging on to the lie which is a byproduct of what he did. And my theory is based on the fact that the lightning is yellow. Wikipedia says so and most of the other fansites about the MCU will say that Thunderbolt was the power or at least part of the reason why the power could be transferred. But you made it about what "I think" instead of maybe considering that it could be true or a version of it could be true. Essentially there is a logically explanation to why Thor never did this before (the main point to your question).

And take the argument about Thunderbolt being able to harm Zeus. Using one's own weapon or another Godly weapon to harm a God is a common plot device. And thunderbolt is portrayed as the ultimate god weapon in the MCU (as of now) so why can it not harm Zeus? I've given you plenty of reasons as to why this is logical. Lighting power was not born with Zeus, the weapon was created by Cyclops and given to him, it is a physical weapon that can and has been stolen in traditional myths and other hollywood films. There is nothing to suggest that one cannot use the Thunderbolt to harm Zeus. You didn't address this and moved on to more questions "Why would he let himself be defeated in the middle of celebration" and blah blah. You deflected.

I am not sensitive considering you admitted to spazzing out. You're clearly not reading or rushing to read through my posts and then answering without a thought. You replied "random point?" not realizing you are the one who stated it was a random point. Go back and read your post and you will realize you've been attacking instead of discussing.

Take a deep breath and chillax dude.

I need to take a deep breath and chillax? Yeah, you don't seem sensitive at all, man. <45>

I wasn't being passive aggressive in my last reply. My reply was genuine.
But we're having a conversation about a comic book movie and memes and sarcasm are not allowed? And you say you aren't sensitive?
I've already told you that there's no need to continue this, especially when you're either not reading, or not understanding my replies. I addressed why I dismissed your arguments, because I am judging the movie on the movie that I saw, and the MCU that I know, and not on what Wikipedia, or a greek mythology book has to say. I've already said that I can live with the disagreement and don't fault people for liking it, but you keep coming back to me with the same argument as if it makes sense, or as if it changes anything that I said.
If it makes sense in your head, cool. It doesn't to me.

Yeah, that was a bad movie. Way too much forced humor, Gor the only one not acting liking a buffoon for most of the movie. Kid Thors?????????
Thor a "big fan" of Zeus...who the hell okayed this script?

He may not have even known the Thunderbolt would enhance his ability, but I just rewatched it and the the blue lightening even turns to gold as he points his hand, so I definitely think there's something to your point
