Did you miss the post above yours where Trump himself says its not an emergency?

You destroy your own argument by pointing out this is an ongoing problem "with regularity". that is by definition not an emergency,in the way his Constitutional powers were created.

Those powers are tied to 'an immediate need, where the POTUS taking something to the Congress and the time that would require would cause severe harm to the country'. Such as an invasion or war, or a Natural disaster response that needed immediate action.

Trump cannot have an emergency that has been going on for his 2 years in office (and long before that) that he ignored prior and that Congress had time to debate and just refused because they did not agree with his assessment.

An 'emergency' is not congress disagreeing with a POTUS over a campaign issue.

Oh, I see. So its a reoccurring problem, we are damned now to simply ignore it and let it take its toll? Where is that written?

President Trump declares border emergency in bid to divert billions for wall, predicts court fight

President Trump said Friday he is declaring a national emergency on the southern border, tapping into executive powers in a bid to divert billions toward construction of a wall even as he plans to sign a funding package that includes just $1.4 billion for border security.

“We’re going to confront the national security crisis on our southern border … one way or the other, we have to do it,” Trump said in the Rose Garden.

The move is expected to face a swift and forceful legal challenge that could stall the attempt in the courts for the near future. But the declaration and other money-moving plans allow Trump to continue to fight for border wall construction while also averting another partial government shutdown -- which would have been triggered at midnight absent the new funding package.

Trump, in the Rose Garden, declared once again that "walls work" as he confirmed he'll sign the emergency declaration.

"We’re talking about an invasion of our country," Trump said.

And in an almost-casual tone, the president predicted a legal fight that will wind up before the Supreme Court.

"We will have a national emergency, and we will then be sued," Trump said, adding that the federal appeals courts could well rule against his administration. "Then we’ll end up in the Supreme Court, and hopefully we’ll get a fair shake, and we’ll win at the Supreme Court -- just like the [travel] ban.”

He knows the legal challenges are coming and that he is not so confident in the Supreme Court considering Chief Justice Roberts being the swing vote(who almost always voted against him).


Also he's going to have to explain this statement to the Justices as well:

"I didn't need to do this, I just want to get it done faster."


Pretty much damages his case from the get-go.

His lawyers / attorneys / representatives better come up with something to explain away this statement.

If the numbers aren't as high as the Right says why does it matter? At what number does it become serious for Dems and their supporters? How many thousands a years crossing illegally? When does it reach that magical number when Dems regard it as serious, i mean they must have a number in mind?
Even if it were only 1000 per yr, 500 per yr, it's still too many isn't it? If they are illegal its too many, i just don't understand the Dems mentality over this.
I don't know how many Angel Parents were there, but the number of illegal aliens that were required to end the lives of the Parents' loved ones, were too many. If there was a barrier in place in the past those parents wouldn't be devastated right now, their kids would literally be alive today. Those particular illegals were simply too many.

Taking a chunk of the drugs, gang members and human traffickers away from the total is surely a great thing too. I don't see how it matter that lots of these come into the country from other areas of the country, lessening the grand total is a good thing, or shouldn't people and politicians bother?

The Dems don't want a wall simply because they don't want the flow of potential future Democrat voters reduced to a trickle. They only care for themselves and their party, not the American people.
Ordinarily people on all sides should desire a wall, it's a natural thing to have if you care for your own society, how could it not be?
The arguing about this barrier is a joke, there shouldn't even be a debate about it.

2.5 Billion is coming from defense department counter drug money
3.6 Billion from money for military construction projects
So the source of the funding is at least accurate

Having the wall funded from a slice of the massively bloated defense portion of the budget (without increasing that portion) has always ever been the only way I was ok with the idea of Trump's wall. All that money isn't doing us much good anyway and is just a waste, at least using some for a border wall will have some slight positive effect for Americans

The "military construction project fund" is the part of the budget earmarked for military housing. It's not fungible with defense money generally.

Politicians and Congress don't have your best interests in heart. The wall idea is what Trump's base wants. They won the election, they should get the wall. With or without the political sluts you refer to as Senators and Congresmen.

Funny that, despite border issues being a problem for decades, only after Trump and the Republicans lose their supermajority do they step up and say that this isnt just a concern but an outright "emergency."

Well, from what I remember he said they would pay one way or another, which doesnt automatically mean cash up front. It could be recouped by other means, but whether it is/was or not I dont know. Ive heard a lot of conflicting stories and im not sure what is true.

Ive heard most of the wall has been built, Ive heard none of the wall has been built. Whats the truth?

Are you to stupid to see that A, Trump doesn't always speak literally he speaks figuratively sometimes and B, he did everything he could to get the wall, and it was obstructed by MSM, DEMS, Foreign lobbyists, and more.
