Andre the Giant vs. The Rock - Who's the bigger star in professional wrestling? (Semi-Finals)

This is for second place in who's the biggest star in professional wrestling. Hulk Hogan easily is #1.

The only professional werstler who had a higher peak popularity wise than Austin was Hogan.

If you were a kid in the mid 80s you know what I mean.

Only one to bring the kind of Arena energy Hogan had was Austin or Undertaker close to Wrestlemania. Rock was big but a much bigger movie star than a Wrestler.

In wrestling, it's Austin. Overall, it's Rock because of Hollywood.

Hey, The Rock doesn't rock that JE Hollywood Scene...

Everybody know he's just in to full grown males (+18)

Lol, j/k

The Rock is only aroused by The Rock

My grandsons grew up in the 80s and they were all ric flair guys...

In wrestling....stone cold.

Overall...the rock. Hes easily the most successful individual to break through from wrestling of all time.

Rock. He was already overtaking Austin in popularity starting around mid 99 a few months before Austin left. Look at them introducing Smackdown for example, then in 00 the Smackdown games too. I would say Rocks popularity peak in the second half of 99 through 2001 was slightly bigger than Austins peak in 98/99. Plus Rock ran practically unopposed in 2000 because WCW had ceased to be competition whereas during a lot of Austins main event run he was in a competitive race as the no1 star in wrestling with WCW still red hot with Hollywood Hogan, Goldberg and Sting. Then keep in mind in 2001 a few months after Austin returned they choose to turn him heel instead of The Rock, because they knew the fans were more into The Rock.

Rocks lead gets significantly bigger when you add in what they did after they left the WWE with his Hollywood career and him coming back to main event Wrestlemania three more times and also being world champ again in 2013.

one of my fav bits lol, greatest rivalry all time imo

Stone Cold is probably the second most important guy in the tv age next to Hulk Hogan.

I didnt realize how controversial this is. I may need to change my vote.

Man this ones hard. lol. this one is literally dead even at least in 1999-2002

I wasn't around for the prime Hogan years, but as far as the late '90s go, Stone Cold has to be #1.

The Rock had his huge year in 2000 with Austin out due to neck surgery.

It wasn't just one person but if there's one person who deserves the most credit for allowing the WWF to go public in 1999 and making Vince a billionaire it's Austin.
