Movies THE MATRIX: RESURRECTIONS (New Trailer)

It’s the worst film of 2020 and 2021.

It’s an insult, it is that bad.

What was Ms W thinking? Utter utter hot garbage.

They should have left this well alone.

I see Razzy Awards all over this turkey.

It was a puece of sh:t movie. Where "Matrix"was innovative (though it borrowed heavily from Stanislaw Lem), and "Cloud Atlas" reached too high and failed fantastically (like Lynch's "Dune" did), this new movie is just a waste of time.

Is it true they turned Morpheus into comic relief? I'm hearing mostly bad things. Bad acting, lazy choreography/fight scenes, lazy plot, etc. I guess it's a good thing to go in with low expectations.

I had to turn it off. It is beyond bad. It destroys the legacy of the trilogy bad.

Not on all levels.

Darn lol

This movie reminded me of one of those spoof worlds they visit in Space Jam 2.

I actually paused the movie around the 20 min marker and debated turning it off. I continued on for another 40 mins and saved the rest for the next night. The only reason I soldiered through because it was the Matrix and wanted to know how deep the shitty rabbit hole goes.

My only guess at this point was this was a partial fuck you directed at Warner Brothers.

I googled around and this article from 2017 states "At this point, the Wachowski siblings, who wrote and directed the original and its two sequels, are not involved and the nature of their potential engagement with a new version has not been determined. "

In the movie they make a literal reference to Warner Brothers and a sequel. Anyway doesn't change how bad the movie is just could be the inspiration for the dumb story. Warner Brothers were going to make this either way so Wachowski jumps in with a story that is literal to this fact. Warner Brothers must be so desperate for content and having something with 'Wachowski' in the directing credits they would let anything fly.

---------------------------------------------------

Smith: "Now what? Things have changed. The market's tough. I'm sure you can understand why our beloved parent company, Warner Brothers, has decided to make a sequel to the trilogy."
Thomas: "What?"
Smith: "They informed me they're gonna do it with or without us."
Thomas: "I thought they couldn't do that."
Smith: "Oh, they can. And they made it clear they'll kill our contract if we don't cooperate."
Thomas: "Really?"
Smith: "I know you said the story was over for you, but that's the thing about stories. They never really end, do they? We're still telling the same stories we've always told, just with different names, different faces. And I have to say, I'm kind of excited. After all these years, to be going back to where it all started, back to The Matrix."

I can only explain it was a view of technology and the internet in 1999 vs now.... if you notice the scene in the elevator, Neo is the only one not glued to social media / phone.

The reflections are good shots because they are turned around components -- even the intro w/ "trinity" -- that light is shining in, but in the first movie it's shining out, mean they are shedding light on something.

There are TONS of subtle things.

Dorky break down, SPOILERS OBVIOUSLY :

.

This makes a lot of sense. The movie is just a big F U to Warner Bros while also making fun of us sheeple for being controlled by social media, smart phones, and the corporations. Lana basically trolled everyone.

It's an ok movie I guess. Nothing special about it but I do enjoy the Matrix world overall so it was good to see what happened after #3. That was pretty much the only thing I liked about it. They had interesting plots that they introduced here but sort of just hinted at and moved on. IMO those plots would have been better to continue with instead of the one we got.
Yeah, I would love to have them focus on the war between machines, and use that as reason to resurrect Neo, or perhaps an excuse for the old guard machine faction to have him entrapped. I liked the idea of him making the Matrix games, but it was so stupid for them to use footage from the same camera we all saw the og movies from. They should recreated the flashback scenes in Unreal Engine 5, and showed them to us from different perspectives. That could have been the demo they released to us, or a full blown game. What a wasted opportunity.

Practically everything that took place inside this current Matrix was lame, especially the fight scenes and cinematography. I get they wanted a different Matrix, but and this drab version is what they wanted, but I can't imagine any viewer really digging it.

Ms.W wasn't thinking she/he was feeeeeeeling. You just have to feeeeel your way through the movie! Feeeel how much the movie sucks.

I don't understand how it's generating this many negative reviews. I thought it was a great movie.

Neil Patrick Harris was great as the new Architect. I thought the new self aware Morpheus was on point, character wise. The new crew is pretty interesting (loving the amount of Sense8 actors in this film), even though they are all very minor characters.

The only complaint I could make is the portrayal of The Merovingian, but he was on screen for like 30 seconds and we know absolutely nothing about what happened to him since the last film (Apart from Neo not fulfilling his function and resetting the Matrix thus setting off something of a civil war between the machines).

All in all I'd give it a strong 9/10, on par with the first Matrix film.
