the fight scenes were not top notch nor were they a focus, but other than that lack I think it was well done and made sense for what it was and spurred some compelling thought and pushed an interesting theme, I dont think it would be good at all standalone it draws heavily from the other films doesnt hold up on its own like the first which is a modern masterpiece obv

i give it 7-8

I wanted to like this. But because LF wouldn't reprise role they went a totally stupid n idiotic way with Morpheus an screwed entire character. They showed plenty fishbourne in the past clips but why not just get the actor .

They threw a bunch of fan service out there but the dialog was awful. Fight scenes were meh n story was all over the place. This will bomb an no sequel.

This was a pointless sequel and used to make money on the back of the Matrix name franchise and it shows. It's just not that good. and just lead nowhere.

10/10. The 4k visuals were stunning. The nostalgia was excellent. Started slow then got really good. Blue hair chick was hot, Doogie Howser was excellent. . Only shertard clowns would disagree.

It was entertaining enough but I wasn't blown away. 7/10maybe? I was a massive fan of the other 3 movies.

I thought the trailer was pretty bad but holy shit this movie blew away my expectations on how bad it was. This is a 2/10 movie at best as their is no redeeming qualities. Acting is terrible, mostly shit cinematography(looking into this I see the original experienced DP left early on because of Covid) and the plot is something that would come from an SNL skit("bRO iMaGiNe mAtRiX wAs jUsT a vIdEo gAMe"). I saw some critics giving this 1 star and now I know why.

I'd say first 10 mins of the movie was a bit intrigued. 15 mins in once Candyman aka Morpheus went red pill this movie turned into a giant gag. The tone of the movie changed into a bad comedy version of the Matrix(mannerisms of Candyman, IT geek caricature calling Trinity a milf in the coffee shop, Trinity's husband named Chad..etc) just low level comedy. As flawed as Reloaded and Revolutions were they at least were extremely ambitious films with amazing world building. Also just from an acting/character perspective the Architect, Agent Smith and Morpheus from the films are pretty much perfect with Hugo, Fishburne and whoever the actor was playing the Architect. Now we have Doogie Houser as the Analyst, some generic Chad guy playing Agent Smith and Candyman as Morpheus. I could write a dissertation on how many things they fucked up(adding tons of flashbacks was jarring as hell because mixing 20 year old footage shot on 35mm with 8K Red footage that is color graded completely differently doesn't work visually and it's cheesy)

I think at this point just need to clone Villeneuve and have him make every reboot.

My god. What did they do to you? They butchered you. Did the director intentionally try to ruin the franchise? I watched it with my brother and both of us almost cried at how bad it was. Everything was different. No noir, no darkness, no soul. They got budget actors to replace Morpheus and Agent Smith. The Architect is Barney from HIMYM. The action is bad, the acting is bad, the story is bad. Was that supposed to be Neo? They clipped him so bad. They don’t explain why humans are still used as fuel. I thought there was a truce, but apparently all that got resolved were machines becoming pet robots. I dunno. I’m still in shock at how bad this was . All the good memories I had with this franchise was flushed down the toilet. Was the other brother/sister director the one who had the talent? It’s pure horseshit. 1/10. Really really bad.

That's about the only positive thing I can think of.

Iron Fist White Rabbit was solid, hope she gets better roles and this doesn't kill her career arc.

It's an ok movie I guess. Nothing special about it but I do enjoy the Matrix world overall so it was good to see what happened after #3. That was pretty much the only thing I liked about it. They had interesting plots that they introduced here but sort of just hinted at and moved on. IMO those plots would have been better to continue with instead of the one we got.
