The "woke" fear is not that it has cultural references but rather than its woke director would alter the history of things in a way that might really upset a lot of Matrix fans. The psychiatrist saying "triggered" is not the problem. The problem is blue haired girl or Trinity now being "the one" instead of Neo, because, you know, girl power. That is the fear, at least from what I've read. People are already pointing to the fact that although blue haired girl may be a computer program, which would explain her additional powers, it does not explain why Trinity looks like she has somehow gained new powers.

Lol probably just because the nutjob director said the first matrix trilogy was about being a closeted tranny

I know The Matrix Online was considered cannon when it came out, but is it still?

This movie wasn't that good at all. 4/10, not a fan and I hope this is the end of this franchise.

If you're expecting nice action scenes then forget it. The action scenes are awful in this and not having Morpheus or Agent Smith in it really brings it down.

This director seems to hate the fact that "red-pill" has been taken by right-wing groups and the movie comes across as cynical, like she didn't even want to do it.

I was hoping for something fresh and exciting, I love the lore of this franchise but man this sucked

I read a few reviews and will definitely be skipping this. It sounds like they went super meta with it, to the point it undermines the storytelling.

Also working against it is the fact that I tried rewatching the series a couple months ago and couldn't finish. The original was nearly as good as I remember from my teen years, but Reloaded was even worse. After the highway chase hit minute 15 I just pushed fast-forward until the actual plot started again. I didn't even bother rewatching Revolutions. And this one is supposed to be more of that same vein.
