Economy The DOGE effect, collapse of the CR

i mean that's pretty obviously the goal. i don't think he'll be successful but it's funny watching his nuthuggers pretend this is all just exaggeration

What's that road they say is lined with people telling you to stop overreacting?

Nah, many Americans are at the point where they just dont really give a f*ck what happens to people they look down on so long as some wealthy billionaire who has never put in an actual day of work tells them they're gonna make them rich (they're not, but they want to hear that).

The fact that you think the US spends $1.3 trillion on food stamps shows what a dumbass and lemming you are.

Originally designed to support farmers, the Farm Bill has evolved over time to prioritize nutrition assistance, with the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) now comprising 76% of the budgetprojected to increase to 84% in the current version. This shift underscores the growing emphasis on addressing food insecurity among low-income Americans, as SNAP currently serves over 42 million individuals, or about 12% of the population.

The 2024 Farm Bill will fund SNAP, agriculture subsidies, and crop insurance through 2029, at a projected cost of $1.5 trillion. However, as the first Farm Bill to exceed $1 trillion, it faces heightened scrutiny as both parties clash over the allocation of funding between SNAP, subsidies, and other key programs.

The relative proportions of farm bill spending have shifted
over time. In the 2023 projection, the Nutrition title is 84%
of the farm bill baseline, compared with about 76% when
the 2018 farm bill was enacted. The increase in the 10-year
baseline for the Nutrition title since 2018 is, coincidentally,
84%, reflecting consequences of the Coronavirus Disease
2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, inflation, and administrative
adjustments in the Thrift Food Plan pursuant to the 2018
farm bill. For the non-nutrition agriculture programs in the
farm bill, current economic projections are that program
outlays would be $240 billion over the next 10 years

There is all kinds of weird shit in it, outside of that raise bullshit. And they wanted it to be passed on just a day or two. Over 1500 pages lol

yup. Never spent a second thought on something like the “farm bill”. Heard senator Tuberville talk about it this morning and was pretty shocked lol.

He and bannon went in to how a lot of those companies that benefit from SNAP put out garbage products that will be directly targeted by RFKjr and his team.

Multiple front offensive

LOL! If this isn't playing politics I don't know what is. Pretty sure he racked up record debt during his own term but now he's worried about it. Go ahead and get inaugurated while the government is shut down. I'm sure it'll be a record crowd again... It's time to see which Republicans actually stand up for Americans despite these threats. At the end of the day there are only so many districts that will blindly vote MAGA anyway. Can't wait to see how the midterms turn out.

that's over 10 years <lmao>

Yes he was, and MAGA world is happy to call out these people out. He has repeatedly turned on his word and had the excuse that democrats in control, election hadn’t happened yet.

But now that the anvil of MAGA is solidly in place with control of everything, his true colors show and ks being turfed out.

That is populism and actually democracy in effect. You should demand such from your side, right?

The people wanted and elected Trump, political scheming is not what they elected.

Johnson literally shutdown the border bill so Trump had something for rubes to whine about. He played ball for Trump at the cost of Americans suffering from this alleged border crisis.

And now you’re saying he’s a snake when he did all of that for Trump? Yet, y’all swear it ain’t a cult…

Wonder how this factors into the implementation of a technocratic rule in which advanced next gen technology will be used to eradicate the poors and minorities; but let me know if you need someone to help with coding architecture, Elon!

that's over 10 years <lmao>
Whoa, that was some amazing detective work. Was the giveaway that it's a spending bill, and all of them are future projections, as are revenue projections for taxes, or did you figure it out by reading the 10 year range plastered right on top of the graph?

The total tax revenue for last year was less than $4.5 trillion, and somehow you thought the other poster claimed that the $1.5 trillion was per year, and that food stamps were nearly 30% of the entire tax revenue?

I agree in principle that a 1500 page bill which includes nonsense is not the way to do it.

Signing something which just extends the current spending for another 90 days so things aren’t happening under the gun and with a new administration seems like a good idea.

Take Musk out if it — what’s wrong with that?

Did Elon not get any subsidies in the bill? He’s the only guy that will need to be buried deeper than a farmer when he passes.

Maybe shutting the other federal workers out of jobs and compensation until Trump is in office isn’t a good idea?

Some of them have families to feed even during the holidays.

1.5 trillion over 10 years sounds pretty damn efficient so if he took an issue with it, it's a reasonable assumption.

Which is fairly modest given Republicans are tossing out that number like it's annual spending. The US sure as shit ain't spending that figure annually, like Tuberville wants to pretend for rubes.
