Exactly, He told his lines like its a theater play overacting to the extreme. Strange because he is a good actor but maybe thats what Stallone wanted. Completely different character to the bookStallone was quite good in Rambo. Very Physical.
I always thought that Richard Crenna as Papa Bear Trautman put it over the top.
Me tooIf I had seen it back when it first released, I'd probably be more generous to it. As is, it's like watching Stallone trying to be a good actor. There's something about it that seems a bit forced. That goes for the movie too. Stallone's star power sinks some of it's more "raw" scenes for me. It's totally personal, and probably a bit unfair, LOL.
I have the same issue with a lot of A-listers, when they get all dramatic n' shit. It's hard to separate the performer from the role. It's why I can't take a guy like Jake Gylennhal seriously, no matter how good he is in a movie. It's my fault, really.
Funny how you have this poll since he considers it his worst acting performance in his storied career. According the this interview I saw It was so bad that he wanted to buy the rights to the footage to keep it from being released. I forget off the top of my head but I believe he thanked the editor for cutting out all his lines or he himself cut out all his quippy one liners?
