Stallone was quite good in Rambo. Very Physical.

I always thought that Richard Crenna as Papa Bear Trautman put it over the top.
Exactly, He told his lines like its a theater play overacting to the extreme. Strange because he is a good actor but maybe thats what Stallone wanted. Completely different character to the book

In the book he has a menacing presence. A professional killer through and through understanding Rambo not only but basically being an older version of him.

I liked the movie but I saw that interview where he thought it was terrible. And had them cut out almost all his talking scenes.

If I had seen it back when it first released, I'd probably be more generous to it. As is, it's like watching Stallone trying to be a good actor. There's something about it that seems a bit forced. That goes for the movie too. Stallone's star power sinks some of it's more "raw" scenes for me. It's totally personal, and probably a bit unfair, LOL.

I have the same issue with a lot of A-listers, when they get all dramatic n' shit. It's hard to separate the performer from the role. It's why I can't take a guy like Jake Gylennhal seriously, no matter how good he is in a movie. It's my fault, really.
Me too
Jake sucks and him as a mma fighter was ludicrous to me - I saw right through it

Funny how you have this poll since he considers it his worst acting performance in his storied career. According the this interview I saw It was so bad that he wanted to buy the rights to the footage to keep it from being released. I forget off the top of my head but I believe he thanked the editor for cutting out all his lines or he himself cut out all his quippy one liners?

This is the first I’ve ever heard of this. Surprising, I thought he did a really good job.
