So what happened with the Wall?

I believe the point went over your head. We're talking about America. Border security in the U.S. wouldn't be noticeably affected by a wall. If you think "Israel disagrees" with me, make sure that you're saying that they disagree with what I'm actually saying.
I believe when @oleDirtyBast4rd said "Israel disagrees" he was referring to the general effectiveness of walls. You see there are general cases and there are specifics. I think them building a wall speaks to the general case.

Yes, I understand. He was deliberately misinterpreting my comment so he could respond with a canned talking point. I'm criticizing that approach.

I think you are wrong about tarrifs. Birch plywood from China which is the most commonly used in the US in cabinets and furniture just got slapped with a 206% tarrif. I got a retroactive bill from 1/1/17 for $3 mil but luckily cooler heads prevailed and it is on 206% going forward and 65% retroactive.

You got hit with a $1 million retroactive tax increase and your post doesnt seem to be mad. What gives?

Got it. Walls don't work, except for that one.

And now you're doing it. Intellectual dishonesty is like a plague here. I made no comments on walls in general. A wall would not be an effective way to enforce border security in America (even before considering opportunity cost, which makes it an even worse idea).

Trump has done a great service to this country by exposing the left's ugly rhetoric (e.g. rubes and deplorables).

you literally just admitted you are a patsy who only cares about rhetoric. I cant think of better descriptors than rube or deplorable.

We're gonna make America great again whether you like it or not.

Nice discussion so far. So it seems like prototypes walls are being analyzed currently. What is the expected cost to install the front runner prototype along the border? Im surprised theres not more talk about the cost / opportunity cost of the wall. Are periodic maintenance costs for the wall also being considered or do we just install the wall then let it rot?

Or are those kind of details just something that is worried about later?

I guess trump has to make SOMETHING materialize if he wants to secure those “wall votes” for a second term right?

I believe he's referring to the West Bank Barrier.

No he means only what we backs up his point and not that enormously damaging example you just used

Jack assvage isn’t against the wall he’s against the rhetoric so if trump builds it he’s against the wall whether or not it works or if his logic is remotely consistent

the talks about the wall just say it costs nothing, because Mexico will pay for it. Problem solved.

Seriously?

Sad to think that that's probably a grown man posting that kind of thing.

Why are you repeating the same argument after I already pointed out that it's not relevant? It's not about border security, it's about the divisive, ugly rhetoric. No one thinks that a wall is the best way to improve border security, but talking about it sends a message that his followers like so much they don't notice that they're getting fucked.

Fences and walls work. This is a fact. It is why prisons have walls and fences.

Now, you say that illegal immigration is not a problem these days. LOL. You clearly don't live where illegals are a problem. My car insurance has tripled over the last 9 years. The reason I was given was because my zip code had experienced an increase in illegal drivers with no insurance. Furthermore, almost 90 hospitals have closed in California because the cost to care for illegals was too much of a burden. That puts citizens at risk.

Just a few years ago a girl in my town was raped by an illegal. He was in his 50s. She was 14. He was let out on bail and fled to Mexico, but two years passed and he illegally crossed once again (no fence, it's easy). He returned and used a shotgun to blow the head off his now 16 year old rape victim. Surely you wouldn't tell her parents that illegal immigration stopped being an issue in the 00's, right? (Melissa Esquivel-Flores was the victim).

Walls in general are OK. In America, we already have fencing along the parts of the border where it is needed.

True. I'm an American. More importantly, though, I have access to statistics, which is a better basis for answering this question than either of our personal experiences. Also, illegal southern border crossing is not much of an issue anymore (it's been almost a decade since that's really been a problem). That is not to say that no one here illegally has ever committed a crime, though note that unauthorized immigrants are less likely to commit crimes than natives.
