Fences are fine but walls.....especially if that wall is right behind the fence that already exists, then it’s twice as racist
I'm not commenting on the goal of increased border security, which both parties share. I'm talking about the rhetoric. Obviously, "the wall" was mostly symbolic (which is why no one cares that he immediately abandoned the idea of actually building a wall). As long as they get to see videos of crying families being roughly treated by border cops and Trump starting Twitter fights with black celebrities, Trump's fans are happy. But they're getting fucked by actual policy. It's a scam. Use racial resentment to loot the country.
Worked for Obama.
He ran on unity and delivered increased bank regulations (including the creation of a consumer protection bureau), tax breaks that disproportionately helped the middle class and poor, an EITC increase, tax increases on the rich, greatly expanded access to healthcare, etc. Booming markets always disproportionately benefit the wealthy, but in terms of policy changes, it was the exact opposite.
