Should Aspirnal stay active and call out Gane?

they're not paying his salary, because he's not fighting. there are other fighters in the UFC besides Jon Jones. if they're really not letting him fight anyone else except the one person that categorically will not fight him under any circumstances then what is the purpose of any of this? at some point we're all going to have to move on. some of us will just do it a little slower, I guess

Correct in that he's only paid when he fights, he is however under contract with them. And if you know anything about how the UFC writes said contracts, you'd know they are not set up for the fighters to have a whole lot of freedom or say. The UFC is obligated to offer him a certain number of fights in a given time frame, but can hold out as long as they want within that time frame.

Jones hasn’t said he will "categorically not fight him under circumstances". Had he, we WOULD all be moving on. But since he has not and since this is the biggest current fight the UFC can make economically, they'll give Jones every last second possible to declare what he's gonna do. And they'll tell Aspinall that outright. And almost sure have told him that.

Just because I understand the reality of a situation doesn't mean I think it's awesome or ideal.

You started out by sarcastically implying that Aspinall should be doing something different. All I did is point out that he essentially has zero say (at this point anyway) about what's happening.

the question posed by the thread is "should tom call out gane" and while I'm skeptical about that specifically he should absolutely do something other than making vlogs and showing up to events with novelty toys. whatever is happening and has been happening here is not working and is increasingly unlikely to work, as one of the principals is obviously uninterested. so what next? apparently, the best anyone can hope for is "nothing". Whatever Tom does right now is largely irrelevant is the point. Waiting sucks, sure. But there IS a time limit on how long Jones can stall. Which is why Tom is doing what he's doing.

At what point do we stop misusing the word interim and call Tom:

"Champion" or
"Co-Champion" or
"Concurrent Champion" or
"Simultaneous Champion"

Or any word that is appropriate for the duration of time actually occurring?

Tom might've already done that if it wasn't for one thing, that when the tables were turned Gane turned Aspinall down, and Tom hasn't forgotten about that. So Gane is the last person he wants to gift a title shot right now.

I have been saying this for a little bit now. He needs to stay active and start crushing any opponent the UFC puts in front of him. There is nothing wrong with cleaning out the division and solidifying his own legacy. In the end Jones either fights him or he doesn’t. If he does, fantastic. If he doesn’t, it certainly isn’t Tom’s fault.
