they're not paying his salary, because he's not fighting. there are other fighters in the UFC besides Jon Jones. if they're really not letting him fight anyone else except the one person that categorically will not fight him under any circumstances then what is the purpose of any of this? at some point we're all going to have to move on. some of us will just do it a little slower, I guess
Correct in that he's only paid when he fights, he is however under contract with them. And if you know anything about how the UFC writes said contracts, you'd know they are not set up for the fighters to have a whole lot of freedom or say. The UFC is obligated to offer him a certain number of fights in a given time frame, but can hold out as long as they want within that time frame.
Jones hasn’t said he will "categorically not fight him under circumstances". Had he, we WOULD all be moving on. But since he has not and since this is the biggest current fight the UFC can make economically, they'll give Jones every last second possible to declare what he's gonna do. And they'll tell Aspinall that outright. And almost sure have told him that.
