Banning firearms entirely is a lazy answer for a systemic problem. Grannies used to flaunt their guns in school back in the 60s for shooting club. School shootings were practically nonexistent back then…So you can’t blame the mere ownership of guns here.

Too late as they are already here. Maybe if you could snap your fingers and make them disappear. Not to mention most murders committed with guns are not done by people that own them legally, so people with bad intentions will get them. And in this day and age, you can 3d print a gun. To get to the bottom of this scourge you have to get to the root of why so many people can kill others in these mass school shootings. We had more bullying back in the 80s than these kids have today. We never had school shootings. I don't know the answer, but mental illness needs to be addressed. Kids addicted to social media is def a factor. Helicopter parents and instant gratification doesn't help as these kids never get told no. They don't know how to handle negativity.
people can only get guns illegally because they are easy to get legally though. every city with strict gun laws that is rife with crime has easy-to-access guns just outside city limits.
well sure, but i think we're a century or two away from fully grasping that and correcting it. a gun ban is far quicker and easier.
no doubt that parenting and mental illness need massive intervention, and in a utopia that would be ideal. as far as a partisan perspective, there's only one party cutting spending on mental health coverage and outreach. it ain't the democrats.
I grew up in a tough town. I saw bullying that turned my stomach. When I was capable and big enough to help, I did. My lunch table was filled with square pegs and me and my buddies loved it. We met some great fucking people back then, and yes some weirdos. But that made life interesting. We were popular and gave 7-8 rejected kids a life. In the Fall, we played Football. In Winter was Indoor track. Freshman year we had 30 kids on the team. By Senior year there was 110....People just need a place to belong, most kids sucked they just loved being a part of something. Not hard to extend a hand. That being said, mental illness is different. There is an epidemic of truly mentally ill people, and we do a shit job of helping these folks. I just can't see someone going into a school with intent to murder other kids without something very wrong upstairs.
